In an effort to spice things up, I have decided to forgo the traditional white shoes and opt for something with a little pizazz. Although we will be married on the beach, its quite a different type of beach down in the Keys. Due to the coral reefs that surround the islands, no beaches are actually natural made, but man made with tightly packed sand. This gives me the opportunity to wear some fabulous heels, and give my rump a little lift!

I have decided to stick with the colors of our wedding, Tiffany Blue/Turquoise and Coral in my quest for shoes. This has been quite difficult as it is winter and most companies haven’t yet begun to display their spring lines which are always full of color. I have had a little bit of luck, and thought I would turn it over to the BridalBud readers to help me with my decision.

My next installment of my reference list is here… shoe adornment!!
When I saw Jess’s post on her gorgeous wedding shoes (that’s Miss Budget Savvy Bride of course!), I did not hesitate for even a second before adding this mini-DIY to my list!! I lovelovelove shoes, and I was super-thrilled with my purple wedding heels, and I thought this was a perfect way to add a little bit of character to the soles of my toes! After all, these bad-boys deserved some love… they were supporting me while taking the walk of my life right?!

I just love how Jess’s look so whimsical!! BUT, let’s face it, I am an engineer, so my glitter letters (don’t they look exactly like Jess’s?! yep… stole that idea point-for-point!!) are freakishly symmetrical!!

So, inevitably, with the overwhelming amount of wedding porn out here in cyberspace, you will crush, swoon, envy, dream, drool, even whimper over some of the dresses, shoes, rings, flowers, stationary, or food posted on bridal-blogs. Have you ever had a downright crush on a bride?? I have!! I’m talking, make your heart skip a beat, red in the cheeks imagining what it would be like to be her for a day, looking at yourself in the mirror and wondering if you could ever look so dreamy… oh ya, I have a serious bride crush!!

I received a few comments from buds wondering who made this pretty shoe with the bow on the back:
I felt it necessary to help all the ladies out and give you the full run down because it is a fantastic shoe. If only it didn’t have a 4″ heel – I would definitely wear it for my wedding.
The designer is Luichiny Zeppelin. You can find him on many websites. I also found this peep toe version called the Pretty Pump:

What’s my favorite pastime??? Oh, that’s easy — shopping of course! Nothing puts me in a better mood than coming home with a good purchase. And the search for a perfect bridal shoe is no exception. The only trouble I’m having (as usual!) is deciding which style I like best… which is where you come in! Here are the shoes I’m currently contemplating, please vote for your favorite!

I had another dress fitting this past Saturday while my mom was visiting me in NYC. My dress was made for me, so the only thing that needs any alteration is the hem. I still haven’t bought my shoes, but I have always thought I would go with a mid-sized heel (2 – 2.75 inches) because I am just under 6 foot and Cotton Dude is only a couple inches taller than me. I don’t need the height to feel good, and I’d love to be comfortable all night! I thought I could commit to the heel height and then find the appropriate shoe, but the ladies who do the fittings refuse to hem my dress until I have my shoes…

When it came down to wedding shoes, I noticed that a lot of brides were really making a fashion statement (remember Dahlia Bud’s post?). Let’s just say, “Goodbye White, Hello Color!”

Gift for your maids. Standard right? Monogramed bag, framed picture, gift certificate, and a variety of other things they will most likely never use. I wanted to do a Portland themed gift – something they would ACTUALLY use. And then it dawned on me – from the homepage of threaddesign.com:

I have no problem saying that I think I have the most amazing shoes for my wedding. I chose my dress around my shoes, and my shoes cost me twice as much as my dress. I suppose that’s not saying a lot, as I only spent $160 on my dress.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my dress- it fits me and my personality perfectly. But, mostly I love how amazing my shoes look with my dress.
Truth be told, I picked out my shoes soon after I got engaged. Thinking I had plenty of time, I held off buying them and THEN they were featured in a full page spread in a very popular wedding magazine. I happened to see the page flipping through bridal magazines at my local market. I went home, got online- and they were SOLD OUT. MY shoes=SOLD OUT.
