… and in the darkness bind them… well wed them at least! I swear I’m done with Tolkien! I may not have mentioned this buuuut we have not one but TWO ring bearers! That means these two handsome faces will be bringing our rings.

Ring Bearer #1
(Who looks exactly like Cherry Dude as a kid- and is trying on his Barf/Mawg costume wig)

Ring Bearer #2
The quandary is how do I find two awesome ways for them to bring the rings that isn’t all matchy-matchy and doesn’t involve a pillow. I’m quite certain that these two soon to be 8-year-olds will need something less destructible and more boy-appropriate. As usual this brought me to Etsy… but Etsy only brought more ideas than decisions.

I stumbled across this idea on the way to work this morning when reading one of the million catalogs that migrate to my mailbox every week. Check out this “Wishing Wall” found at Uncommon Goods:

What a great idea! I would love to have this instead of a traditional guest book. Think of all the sweet (and probably some spicy) advice and wishes you will come home with. I can picture making a book out of all the wishes too– just line them up and photograph them and send to one of several online book makers– an easy way to have all those great wishes close to your heart always.
Unlike some similar wishing walls I have seen, I like that this one keeps the advice and wishes secret by rolling up the paper into the honeycomb. At other weddings I have been to the advice has been a little more open for all to see, which may keep folks from telling you what’s truly in their heart. My only wish is that it would not be made out of cardboard, but there’s probably a way to dress it up to make it look a little more festive. Maybe cover the cardboard with pretty wrapping paper? I may have to experiment.
Here’s the product description:
Tuck tiny colorful wishes for the happy couple, new baby or proud graduate into this cardboard frame for a memorable keepsake. Or give it to yourself and let it be a time capsule of your hopes and dreams. After the wall is full, store all your wishes in this keepsake WishChest. Includes 500 wish sheets. 100% recycled cardboard and 30% recycled paper fiber. Hand assembled in the USA.

Photo books seem to have become a very popular way to easily add a personalized touch to any one of life’s events – from new babies to new houses, its a fun DIY project that you can cherish forever.
I’ve seen many buds post here about their personalized photo books, and became more and more intrigued about creating a book of my own using the engagement photos that Orchid Dude and I took.
I had explored a few sites and checked out what they had to offer in terms of design and overall look, and through the recommendation of Canadian Living Magazine, I decided to check out Picaboo.

In addition to creating a book with our engagement photos, I wanted to turn it into a guest book so that I could easily share them with my wedding guests.

Hi All,
I have gone through many ideas here and here, about how to go about having a guest book for the wedding. Like Lotus Bud, I decided to go with the Blurb photo guest book. In the end, we found this route much simpler than the other ideas I was batting around. We used the 12 x 12 format with image-wrap cover because I love the simple modern look. This book will be with us for years to come! Here is a pic of the front and back:

You can see by the background that we took the photos right in our dining room, with the help of a friend who is a fine art photographer! Inside, there are simple pages with full images, and quite a few blank pages for guests to write in. I was very excited when I learned I could even use my carefully chosen ‘wedding font’ for the text in the book.

Something else we’ve been working on this month is the guest book. We knew we wanted a photo book because we wanted it to be something that we would actually look at again. However, I’m a little shy and I really did not want a book with just photographs of us. I knew that would make me self-conscious. So we decided to do a photo book which was a mixture of our engagement photographs and photos of our family and friends.

We used blurb.com to make the book. You have to download their software before you can begin working on the book. The software was pretty easy to use, but it did take me some time playing around with it to figure out how to change lay-outs, font, etc. But I figured the program out, it was relatively simple to upload the photographs and create custom lay-outs mixing text and photos.

Following my first post on the subject, readers were so helpful! Poppy Blossom had great luck with the Polaroid Guest Book, which was one of my favourite routes. However, I am concerned that it might be too interactive for some guests, and I don’t want to miss anyone! So, new plan:

Guests can write little notes on paper provided, and put them in the jar. I am liking this idea because:
