We Did It!

November 30th, 2012 by

That’s right! Over a month ago, the Joker and I tied the knot!

Sorry it’s taken me so long to finally announce it, but I wanted to wait until I had pictures from the photographer.  That way I had pictures to show of everything I was talking about.  It was the best day of my life, and I can’t wait to tell everyone all about it!

And now that I’ve got the pictures, I’ll start with recaps!

The day of the wedding started really early for me.  The wedding started right at noon (we’ll get into the reasons why later), so everyone in the bridal party had to be at the church at ten.  Mommy Orchid found a hair dresser, who was willing to do my hair at the church, as well as for the maid of honor, Princess Repunzel.  So, the three of us had to meet at the church at 7:30 a.m.  Needless to say, sleep didn’t really happen for me the night before.  Not for long at least.  On a sidenote, I will say I had been told not to expect to get much sleep the night before my wedding due to nerves.  But I have to admit, even though I got to bed super late, once I did get to bed, I slept like a baby.

Once I got to the church, I helped Mommy Orchid with some final decorating touches in the sanctuary while Repunzel got her hair done. And finally, it was my turn.

My hair with my Orchid fascinator I made myself! It was a hair clip, an Orchid bud, the same silver pearls in the bouquets, some purple ribbon and some hot glue! So easy!

After this, I did my makeup, and Princess Repunzel helped me into my dress.

Repunzel buttoned my dress up for me. I look bored because there were a LOT of buttons.

After I was dressed, we played the waiting game.  The Joker’s family was taking their pictures.  When they were finished, the Joker and I were going to get to see each other privately for a moment.  It would be the first time he would see me in my wedding dress, and the last time we would see each other alone before we got married.  I got more and more nervous with each passing second as I waited to be escorted into the sanctuary.

To Be Continued.

Mrs. Orchid

July 13th, 2011 by

Hello, Garden. I know I’ve been a bit MIA lately. That last months of planning really hit me hard and no matter what your circumstances are, it takes some time to settle back into life post-wedding.

June 4 has come and gone and Orchid Boy and I are now Mr. and Mrs.

I made an honest attempt to figure out Creative Suite in order to make a nice display for my pictures, but between my very slow computer and my impatience, I’ve decided to go old school and unfancy.

The pictures I’m about to share in this narrative come from a few different friends and I’ll do my best to credit them properly. None are from my photographer as I have yet to receive the disk with all of the images, but you can check them out on her site.

The Big Day

I’m not a morning person by nature, so having a late-morning wedding was probably a bad idea. But, it all went pretty well. My wonderful cousin did my makeup and my regular hairdresser did my hair.

There was something about my bangs that bothered me and we spent a good 10 minutes attempting to figure it out. No matter what she did, I didn’t like it.

“Maybe, it’s because I wear them on the opposite side and I’m just not used to it,” I said.

“You wear your bangs on the other side?”

“Well THAT’S the problem! No wonder it’s bothering you!”

A quick flip of the bangs made it all come together.

The bouquets I crocheted await their respective maids. – Alexis DePersia Norelli

Orchid Boy and I decided to get our photos out of the way, which meant a First Look moment. He later admitted that he wasn’t exactly sure what a First Look actually was and put so much thought into it he began to mentally rehearse his reaction.

Worth Every Penny, Every Tear.

May 20th, 2010 by

I am just back from my wedding and honeymoon…and have so much to tell you I don’t even know where to begin. Let me first start by saying the wedding was worth every penny, every ounce of stress, every tear I shed in the 15 months it took to plan. A magical day from start to finish!

It was amazing how everything came together in the last few days.  I never got my sister’s pink eye, though a surprise root canal just 3 days before the wedding caused a little drama (especially being so far from home).  I will attempt to break down my thoughts and advice into categories and post a bit at a time, and will share the professional photos as they become available.  Stay tuned!

Our Mountaintop Wedding – Frustration

November 19th, 2009 by

No matter how often you tell yourself that you will NOT go bridezilla on your wedding day, there just might be a little disturbance that you are not prepared for… and it can spark something inside that you swore wouldn’t light on fire!! YEP, I had a bridezilla moment! Emotion of the moment?! FRUSTRATION!!

I was soooo frustrated with my husband when, after our moment of bliss during our first look, we started to head outside to get our modeling on! You already know it was raining, but since we had a spent a few minutes inside doing our first look, the weather seemed to have calmed down a bit, but it was still drizzling, and definitely still a bit messy from the early RAIN!! So, I waited patiently outside with an umbrella, while our peeps figured out the vehicles. We knew in advance that we needed 4 wheel drive to access one of the photo-shoot locations, and we (hubs and I) had already decided that we would be driving his truck (convenient right?!). Well, you can imagine my surprise when he informed me that he had left his truck at the hotel, and that we would be taking his best man’s jeep… not that big of a deal right?!

My mom came out to help and make sure I didn’t get dirty…

(I think he knew he was about to get in trouble…)

Well, let’s just say that the Jeep was NOT CLEAN?!?! and… out came bridezilla! I was pissed right off… oh wait, I am using the slightly less dramatic term “frustrated”, but let’s face it ladies, I was pissed! Um, what part of WHITE DRESS did he not understand?!? So, after catching sight of the interior…
