Over Run with Wedding Clutter

June 16th, 2009 by

Our house is getting ridiculous.  We have piles of wedding items all over the house.  Boxes of reception items, ceremony items, decorations, gifts, etc.  And that’s in addition to all of the planning items – binders, magazines, folders, templates, test pages, and more.

Sunflower, Get it Together

June 14th, 2009 by

I looked around my apartment this morning and realized that I really need to get my sh*t together.  As in my ‘life’ sh*t, not my wedding sh*t.  Because lemme tell you, in the wedding department, I am A-OK with 3.5 months to go.  However, it seems my apartment is suffering.

My dining room used to be my ‘clean space’, a beautiful empty room with perfectly suited furniture and a vase of flowers or potted plant on the table.  I always liked to keep it tidy, since when you’re working with a small city apartment, there are few safe havens for showcasing your beautiful artwork and restored dining room table.

Well, that ended in about February, when the dining room became the wedding workshop (as dude likes to call it).  Paper is EVERYWHERE, favour tags, envelopes, 20 types of glue, and 8 million other things I decided I might need someday.

Now that summer has arrived, I am expecting overnight guests.  Usually I’m able to transform the dining room into a comfy guest bedroom…but now I might have a bit of a challenge transforming the wedding workshop.

Along with the dining room, I’ve noticed that I can’t remember the last time I did dishes, laundry seems to happen on a ‘need’ basis, and vacuuming and dusting also tend to happen once the apartment has turned into a red-zone case (something that never happened before).

So, this post is to help encourage me to get it together!  I am going to go home tonight and thank Dude for putting up with my wedding-focus, including the fact that he has been cooking for me and cleaning the kitchen for the past 5 months.  Wow – how did I let these wedding projects take over everything?

When I realized what was happening it was like a smack in the head!  I need to get my regular life back in order!  Is anyone else guilty of doing the same thing?
