Hi All,
I have gone through many ideas here and here, about how to go about having a guest book for the wedding. Like Lotus Bud, I decided to go with the Blurb photo guest book. In the end, we found this route much simpler than the other ideas I was batting around. We used the 12 x 12 format with image-wrap cover because I love the simple modern look. This book will be with us for years to come! Here is a pic of the front and back:

You can see by the background that we took the photos right in our dining room, with the help of a friend who is a fine art photographer! Inside, there are simple pages with full images, and quite a few blank pages for guests to write in. I was very excited when I learned I could even use my carefully chosen ‘wedding font’ for the text in the book.

You have all seen many paper projects I have been completing along the way, including my invitation suite and STDs. My final job was making little signs for around the reception. I don’t encourage the escort card project unless you completely love cutting and gluing paper, but glad I did it in the end! (thanks so much to my helpful sister that can cut a straight line!)

Hi Friends, I thought I’d share with you my most recent Etsy finds! For those of you who don’t know – Etsy is THE place for DIY, vintage, and unique bridal accessories. This post could go on all day with the cool things you can find there (custom ties, monograms, hair accessories…) but today I’ll just tell you about the things I’ve recently purchased!
Amazing vintage clip-on earrings from Belle’s Booty. I think they are perfect for the rehearsal dinner. It’s amazing what you can find for $10!

I have been finding that there are a lot of neat ways to create an aisle out there! Our venue is outdoors on grass. I love the idea of decorating it in some way, for that last special walk as a single woman! The big question is: How do you choose?

We will be offering a signature drink at the reception (among many non-alcoholic options!). We would like to offer something that has few ingredients (easy on the bartender), is attractive in a rocks or tall glass, and will be liked by most.
Which would you like to try most at a wedding?
Orange Fizz
Ingredients: Rum, orange juice, lime juice, topped with lemon-lime soda

I was reading what has turned out to be a rather fun blog (despite my initial apprehension): Help Me Pay For My Wedding. Today, BB2B makes a most excellent point: the word ‘tacky’ is so incredibly overused in the wedding industry. As she says: “Just search ‘tacky’ on the wedding bee discussion boards and you’ll discover an endless list of posts by anxious brides-to-be, petrified that their guests will judge them if they opt for a cash bar, balloons, origami flowers, or a potluck reception.”
I would encourage you to read her post. I completely agree that the word tacky is completely overused (even mis-used) in the wedding industry. Wedding guests seem to judge a wedding on how it fullfill’s that person’s own wedding ideals, rather than focusing on the couple that has planned the event. As in – the guest is not thinking “oh wow, a picnic wedding is perfect for Samantha!” but instead might feel that since the guest doesn’t agree with picnic weddings, then the event is deemed tacky.
It seems to generally start with the venue style (where only country clubs, halls and churches are acceptable) and the most unique ideas are generally at the centre of the attack. But make no mistake, even the most high-budget affair is under scrutiny. Heaven forbid you knock out a soup course or offer macaroons instead of wedding cake – people will talk!
#1 image that comes up when I search 'tacky weddings' - I think it's fun!
Case in point: here’s a site devoted to drawing on ‘tacky’ items! Tackyweddings.com

Buds, here is a little beauty that you may want to consider for your wedding flowers.
 From goodhousekeeping.com
If you want the full name, it’s Moluccella laevis, but commonly known as Bells of Ireland or Shell flower. These stems provide interesting greenery in a mixed bouquet, or a sleek modern look when used on it’s own. We are using simple pots with 5-7 stems in each for the cocktail lounge area of the wedding. The reception room will have a more traditional feel as shown with our other flowers. I like the idea of having the cocktail lounge a little more modern and simple-looking.

Hi Buds, just wanted to share my most recent wedding reception excitement! I am in love with beverage jars!
Dude and I find that at weddings there often aren’t enough appealing non-alcoholic drinks around. We have decided to provide our guests with a fresh farm-style lemonade, served in a beautiful beverage jar. Isn’t this just the best way to have a drink?

Does everyone know how easy it is to get a great designer to make up a monogram for you? Most are between $4-$10. When you find a designer to do something up for you, you can then use it on your invitations, thank you cards, favour tags, printed napkins, etc etc! Monograms help lend a ‘feel’ to your wedding, and help give a cohesive look to all of your stationary.
