One of the newer wedding trends that I was so excited to find out about was wearing bright colored shoes with your wedding dress! I had never really heard of the idea until one of my really good friends told me she was wearing bright red shows with her dress. I found this to be such an exciting concept. How awesome? This might not be a new idea to most but for me it is! My friend looked FANTASTIC in her red shoes and she rocked the hell out of them! She danced all night in them! They even matched her bridesmaids dress color. This is a small way to add color to your dress and add a part of your personality.
This friend of mine loves shoes and she got to wear some awesome ones!
What kind of shoes do you think you would wear? How much would you spend? Would you go with the classic white?

What about flat colored shoes?

I just bought a pair of dyeable shoes for the wedding on Shoebuy.com. I like their website because it actually tells you the height of the heel in inches, not just “high” or “mid”. They also offer free (ground) shipping in BOTH directions, so if they don’t fit you can exchange for the right size.
Right now they’re also doing their 20% off Winter Sale (SAVE20) and if you’re a member (as in you register at check out) you receive another 10% off. AND, here’s a link for 10$ off. 10$ off a pair of shoes at Shoebuy.com
Here’s the shoes I bought: (Touch Ups Abby)

When I started planning our wedding nobody warned me about all the meddling little fingers that would be trying to get involved. Nobody informed me that there would be so many people with “better” ideas for what my dress should look like, what our colors should be, the type of food we should serve and who our officiant should be. And nobody ever mentioned that my choice of footwear would have such an impact on my wedding guests.
This post is not a rant. I understand that people like to share their opinions, and give their ideas to the bride. This is an exciting time and family and friends enjoy being involved. I just want to post a warning to brides who may not fully understand what may come of letting family and friends in on your planning and ideas.
Had I known then what I know now, I never would have told anyone about Violet Dude and my plan for our entire wedding party to wear Chuck Taylors to our wedding. It has now become the one thing that everyone talks about; “Oh the venue is gorgeous, but did you know she is wearing sneakers with her wedding dress?!” I receive e-mails from my aunt and she finishes them off with “PS: Re-think the sneakers.” I will admit, I find it pretty amusing that my family is more concerned with what I’m wearing on my feet than what they will be served at the reception. Dude and I chose to wear them because I work for a footwear retailer, and I wear “Chucks” on an almost daily basis. We also thought they fit our quirky, vintage, baseball theme, and we just like them! We might be mad, but we have a method!

After multiple fruitless shoe shopping trips my sister, my cousin and myself piled into the bride mobile (aka my car) for a field trip to The World’s Largest Shoe Store… or Reyers in Sharon Pennsylvania. We were bound to find something for both of the Lilac sisters to wear when wed!

Whether or not Reyers is really the world’s largest shoe store, I don’t know. But it is fairly big and the signs say so! (Visit them online at reyers.com)

Guess what? I just ordered the shoes I will be wearing as a bridesmatron in August! The bride picked them out to go with our green tea-length dresses and asked that we all wear them. Want to see?

So, I’ve never been a shoe diva. To be honest I do have a closet full of shoes. However, that is only because when I buy new shoes, I can’t bring myself to “toss” the old ones. Being a thrifty bride, I never imagined that I would spend too much on my wedding shoes. I normally cant justify more than $30 on a “good” pair of shoes. So the idea of “investing” in my bridal shoes was all but nonexistant. At least, this was my thinking up until about 24 hours ago when I spotted the most perfect shoe ever made. If a shoe was ever made specifically for myself, these would be them…

I cannot believe how much I care about shoes right now! I have never had such an issue finding a pair of shoes as I have for my wedding.
Traditionally, wedding shoes have matched the dress. In my case I would have white shoes. But I’m not so sure I want them.

Many brides are opting to wear shoes in their wedding colors. Blue and silver are very popular.

Recently I was browsing Kohls online and saw Apt 9 Stephanie shoes… they looked oddly familiar. Then I remembered, I had seen the same shoe from Nina called Giammi… for $60 more per pair!

I had this same experience when wandering the shoe aisle at Sears and I see a pair of Metaphor shoes that looked like a pair my friend had been eyeballing at DSW. The differences? A slightly shorter heel, more color choices, and a price tag $30 cheaper.

What is harder than finding shoes for your wedding? Trying to help three lovely ladies pick out shoes for their Bridesmaid dresses. I wasn’t really concerned about what they wore, until I realized that Dahlia MOH wanted to wear what I consider Stripper Shoes.
