How did the Magnolias meet? Well… We were college sweethearts of sorts. We met when we were sixteen, and working our first jobs at McDonald’s (not too glamourous, lol). I was really afraid of the McFlurry machine … you know, the one that makes the ice cream blizzard knock-offs? Well. Did you know that if you don’t align the spoon in the machine properly, the whole thing explodes? For serious ! Anyway. Mr. Magnolia always made mine for me. Eventually he asked me to a movie. And the rest, as they say, is history.
After being together for almost 7 years, Mr. Magnolia and I decided to get married. We had always talked about it, but now we decided to get engaged. It was basically a, “I’m ready. Propose now.” Or rather, propose yesterday. I’m quite impatient.

Do you remember the story I shared with the garden back in August of Matt Cawley and Stacey Scanlon? Well, it turns out their experience is not as uncommon as you might think! Just ask Trey Turner and Kelsey Kramer, who experienced a similar mishap at the end of September in the big apple. So I (irrationally) slipped the ring off my finger and — not knowing where to put it once I took it off — held on to it in my teeth.

I can’t think of a better place to start than the beginning of the whole process — our engagement night! The date was Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2008. Periwinkle Dude and I enjoyed a delicious early dinner at Wallse Restaurant, and then he suggested we go out for a little after-dinner fun, which I agreed to on the condition that he choose the location. So, he brainstormed and then we hopped in a cab and Dude directed us to an “undisclosed location”. I really had no idea where we were headed, and was very surprised to end up at none other than… drum roll please… the Empire State Building!
