My MOH just got married this past September, and as her MOH I was in charge of all things makeup. I bought her makeup as part of my gifts and sprung for her to get her makeup done both for the rehearsal dinner (there was not an actual rehearsal for many reasons) and for the actual wedding. For a while, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to have a makeup artist for my wedding day. I feel pretty competent about doing my own makeup, both for everyday and for special events, theatre and TV. I know I committed some fatal errors (teal eyeliner, anyone?) when I first started out but I am no longer 12 and it’s no longer the 80s.
