I’m super excited to show all of you how these turned out. You might remember me talking about making flowers out of fabric and trims for the wedding party…well they are finally done – and rather impressive if I do say so myself! Let’s start with the smaller projects – the groomsmen’s boutonnieres. I think these will really pop on their khaki suits!

The bridesmaids bouquets took a little more time because, well there are a lot more flowers in each one – nine to be exact! I tucked the tulle in between the flowers for texture. I think the blue tulle adds dimension. These too will pop as the girls are wearing navy taffeta dresses.

So my post title is supposed to take you back to your childhood days. You know what I’m talking about. The days when you knew that you would simply die without that stuffed animal. Or that you just couldn’t go on without the newest game. Well, this isn’t nearly as huge as my former need for a cuddly best friend, but I honestly feel like stamping my feet, crossing my arms, and telling Dahlia Dude (in the whiniest voice I can muster, of course) just how unfair the world is.

So what, pray tell, is so darned unfair? Well, here goes: I don’t have a flowergirl. Yes, I’m that upset over not having a flowergirl. And honestly, it baffles me. Not the level of my aggravation over the matter, no, but the fact that out of all the people Dahlia Dude and I know, no one has a daughter between the ages of two and seven. Honestly, the only girls that Dahlia Dude and I know are my sister (age thirteen, will be fifteen at the time of the wedding) and his cousins, who are the same age. Awful, right?

You may remember, in our last Cherry Bud installment, that we were looking for flower girl dresses? We did finally pick one and buy it online from a company called Girls Dress Line. See if you can recognize it! Just take a look at our Petal Sprinkler…
Beginning with the obligatory getting ready shots of the little Princess….

… Or Flower Girl if you prefer to call her that. You’ve met the Ring Bearers now meet the little Flower Girl. Here she is with her brother and cousin, who are considerably bigger than her then 2 year old self.

We’re not too worried about her making it down the aisle, since she has two very goal-oriented boys to walk with, and because I will buy her a great big lollipop and have someone hold it at the end of the very short aisle.
But juuuust in case our soon to be 3 year old Flower Girl doesn’t make it all the way down the aisle, or sprinkle a single petal… Bliss Florist will have “pre-sprinkled” petals. So we’ll still have a beautifully sprinkled aisle resembling this:

I was in one of my favorite Atlanta boutiques over the weekend and saw the cutest handmade felt headbands by Blue Eyed Freckle. It’s too late (and thematically unsuitable) for my wedding, but I can picture an indie/crafty bride and her maids totally rocking them! Or even a funky lil’ flower girl.

Though Plumeria Dude and I aren’t having a traditional wedding party, we are having my adorable niece serve as the flower girl. She just turned two, and she is about the most adorable child I have ever laid eyes on.

Too cute, right? At first I considered a very traditional flower girl look. Something like this, or one that could be accented with a hot pink sash.
