Real quick post. Promise.
There is this savings site that I check when I remember. I know it sounds so unrelated to wedding planning but I thought it might be helpful to share. This site constantly has up info and coupons for Michaels, JoAnn Fabric, Hobby Lobby… where to get deals on sewing machines, etc. They also have all kinds of other things related to make up and fashion (maybe you’re still looking for gifts for your maids?) So, if you’re a DIYer you might want to check up on it every once in a while. Pick up a few extra coupons- we love the Michael’s 50% off!!!!
This one is expired, but check out the site for more.

Ok. Done. Short. See?
We finally finished our invitation design, and were very excited about it. We had the perfect paper, all the supplies, and were ready to go. We went to Hydrangea Dude’s office (he has really high-quality printers and his work doesn’t mind if we use the ink), test-printed a bunch of pages, and everything was fine. Then, since we were pleased with the results, we printed all of them.
We thought they looked great, and took them to Staples to get cut. After we got home, I started assembly, and all was well. Then, after about invitation #5, I looked a little closer and realized that one line -my name, no less – had this weird, dotty printer error. In a panic, I looked through the last 5 I assembled – all of them had it too. All 110 pages that were cut to size had this flaw.

Valentine’s Day is not only a great day to spend with your special sweetie but also to remember the other sweeties in your life. This week, I spent some time properly proposing to my bridesmaid and maid of honor with the DIY inspiration I got from Martha Stewart and all the crafty tools I had on hand. Because I wanted to take advantage of the ideas I had, I made 2 separate proposals for my bridesmaid and MOH. I’d like single out my first inspiration:

While perusing Martha Stewart for Valentine’s Day ideas, I found excellent ways to express not only your Valentine’s wishes (just because it’s no longer Valentine’s doesn’t mean you can’t show your love right?), but also how to propose to your bridesmaid. As a first (and only) time bride, I wasn’t aware of all the creative ways to ask your bestest to be your maid of honor or bridesmaid. In my case, even before I got engaged, I already asked my close friend from college through email (of all things!) to be my maid of honor and called up my friend from high school to be my bridesmaid after I got engaged. Oh man, after seeing all the creative things one can do to propose, the DIY bride in me was disappointed that I hadn’t asked in a similar manner. Regardless, here are some ideas for proposing to your bestest:

Aloha Buds and Buddies, Dudes and Dudettes!
Just dropping you a note to say hi to all of you. Tuberose Dude and I are oh, just about three and a half months till the big day in June. To be more specific, 108 days! You’d think I’d be all set by now but as with most major events and projects, there’s always going to be something to be done. Still, at the tail end of our planning, I have loads of ideas, specifically DIY projects, which I’m excited to share with you all.

Some background info, in my favorite writing style: lists!

Inspired by Hydrangea Bud’s post about the stress reducing qualities of coloring, I created a coloring book from wedding related images I found on the web. If you aren’t interested in coloring yourself, this would also make a great gift for flower girls and ring bearers.

Simply print out the wedding coloring book on thick card stock paper. Then, three-hole punch the paper and secure it with ribbon. Be sure to tie the ribbon somewhat loosely or it will be difficult to turn the pages.
Happy coloring!
I decided to craft away my stress yesterday, and thought I’d share these Valentine’s Day treats with you. These yummy gifts are great for wedding favors, engagement parties, bridal showers, and of course Valentine’s Day.

To make these rose buds you will need the following supplies that I purchased from Michaels:

Though I’m still finalizing my DIY projects, I have been frequenting some of the Atlanta-area DIY meccas and wanted to share.
 From www.paper-source.com
I was super psyched when Atlanta got its first Paper Source. This store is jam-packed with beautiful papers, craft supplies and stationery. The store is known for its high-quality papers, craft supplies, DIY classes and fun gift items. Just walking around helps give me ideas on how to visualize the details for the big day. The store also has its own letterpress stationery service. Here is a listing of some of their upcoming classes that may be helpful to Atlanta brides (as well as others with Paper Source locations):

Since we’re having a destination wedding, one of the first things on the list of things to do was to send out Save the Dates to our guest list. I wanted this to be a relatively simple project. Though I love the look of magnets and more complex Save the Date packages, keeping costs down and stress levels low took precedence. We decided to plan an engagement photo session with the intent of using the results for Save the Date postcards, wedding website and possibly our guest book at the wedding itself.

One of my first DIY projects was my necklace. After buying my dress, I knew I needed something a little complex to complement my very simple style (read: plain). It’s generally the case that I pick out things that are solid or striped and tell my outfit’s story through my accessories. Can you tell I work with clothes?
I wanted to incorporate some important beads that had been part of a great grandmother’s necklace which had become unstrung. Also, my mom had given me some pearls that were a perfect complement. Finally, I bought a bracelet I decided to take apart, shown below:
