Rehearsal Dinner Invitations

May 3rd, 2009 by

I am down to less than a month till my big day! Little details here and there need to be taken care of, but I think I am doing pretty good considering I will be shipping myself, my family, and tons of family and friends to Italy in about 3 weeks!

One last detail I am taking care of this week is sending out a nice invitation for the rehearsal dinner to our families and bridal party. Of course I am not taking this invitation as seriously as the real wedding invitation, but I would like to give all of the people involved a nice reminder with the specific details. I made this another DIY project – I love working on my Adobe programs!

Wedding Rings

April 28th, 2009 by

wedding jewelry, gold wedding band with diamonds

From aclutx70th.com

Cotton Dude and I received our wedding rings! Since we live in NYC, we went to the diamond district because we have a very, very helpful jewelry guy who gives us the best deals possible – we’re talking cost only. His office is upstairs on 47th Street in one of those strange buildings full of offices with full security and bullet proof reception desks. I guess it could be intimidating and scary for someone who’s not used to it, but it is fascinating and fun in my eyes.

In Artimino, the church is probably the equivalent of three NYC blocks from the castle. So, it seems odd to have a method of transportation just to bring us to the church and then to the castle for the reception. However, there were a few things that factored into our decision to have some alternate method of transport.

Music List

April 19th, 2009 by

As the date gets closer, new little things seem to be popping up EVERYWHERE and out of NOWHERE, but I continue to get more and more excited and enjoy every minute. The other day, my wedding coordinator, in Italy, recently requested that I send a list of songs that Cotton Dude and I want to have played at the reception party. Our DJ is Italian, and he is very talented in being the DJ in huge clubs, so we’re not worried about his ability to play some amazing dance music – however, not everyone at our reception will be of the Ibiza mindset. Therefore, we decided it is important to go through phases of music for the reception – starting with the slow dances and ending with glow sticks (kidding).

Pingg – Destination Wedding Email Blasts

April 10th, 2009 by

Planning a destination wedding can be very tedious, and one of the most important things is to keep your guests informed. There is A LOT to inform them about, however, and new things seem to pop up over and over again. I don’t think it is possible to include everything in your invitation and I also don’t think you can count on all of your guests checking your wedding website all of the time to stay on top of your breaking wedding news.

The best thing to do is send occasional emails to all of your guests with news and updates – it also gets everyone excited about their own vacation!

Bow Back Pumps

April 4th, 2009 by

I received a few comments from buds wondering who made this pretty shoe with the bow on the back:wedding wedding attire, back bow shoe1

I felt it necessary to help all the ladies out and give you the full run down because it is a fantastic shoe. If only it didn’t have a 4″ heel – I would definitely wear it for my wedding.

The designer is Luichiny Zeppelin. You can find him on many websites. I also found this peep toe version called the Pretty Pump:

Closed Toe, Sandal, Peep Toe…

March 31st, 2009 by

I had another dress fitting this past Saturday while my mom was visiting me in NYC. My dress was made for me, so the only thing that needs any alteration is the hem. I still haven’t bought my shoes, but I have always thought I would go with a mid-sized heel (2 – 2.75 inches) because I am just under 6 foot and Cotton Dude is only a couple inches taller than me. I don’t need the height to feel good, and I’d love to be comfortable all night! I thought I could commit to the heel height and then find the appropriate shoe, but the ladies who do the fittings refuse to hem my dress until I have my shoes…

Bilingual Wedding Booklets

From current.com

We are getting married in a traditional Italian Catholic wedding ceremony. Although, I was raised protestant, to be married in a church in Italy, I had to go through the hoops to have a Catholic wedding. It was one of the most intense procedures I have had to endure throughout our engagement – marriage classes, meetings with the priest in NYC, mailings back and forth with the Archdiocese in Italy, etc. I am excited that we have finished everything, though, and we have the blessing to be married in the small church in the village of Artimino, in Tuscany.

Hair Jewelry – Better Than Tiaras

March 20th, 2009 by

wedding wedding attire, wedding hairband

From mariaelenaheadpieces.com

I always dreamed that I would look like a princess on my wedding day. When I was little, of course that meant a tiara. Now, being that I am slightly more mature and can’t stand the image of Paris Hilton that automatically pops into my head, I have decided to go another route for a head piece.

I have a gorgeous cathedral length veil with ivory satin around the edge – to match my dress perfectly. I wanted to have something I could incorporate in my hair, though, so I could wear it all evening. I found the perfect solution – a Maria Elena headpiece.

Travel Agent or Bride?

March 13th, 2009 by

At least half of my wedding guests have to fly across the Atlantic to come to my wedding…I didn’t make it easy on them. That’s a high ratio of traveling guests and a big headache if you like to control everything the way I do.

wedding destination wedding, travelagent1When I knew I would be requiring so many people to fly, I asked around and researched what other destination brides do. I found out that having a travel agent who can handle all of your guests’ travel plans is helpful. So, I organized with a travel agent I know to help all of our guests get their flights and their pre or post wedding plans organized in Europe. She was very sweet to simply agree to charging everyone the agency booking fee and not request anything else from me.
