White on White Details for my Green and Blue Wedding

March 28th, 2011 by

My wedding colors are pale green and blue. Obviously since it is a wedding, there will be white involved… especially since this bride loves pearls!

So I’ve decided to include a lot of white on white details to make things look more clean and romantic… and to not push the color too much.

Here are just a couple of my white on white details that I’ve been working on:

Color Me Married

September 15th, 2010 by

When Violet Dude and I started planning our wedding, one of our first projects was figuring our our color scheme. We knew we wanted a vintage/shabby chic type feeling, and I love muted earth tones. I saw a tiny little picture in a Bridal magazine, of a bouquet that used peach peonies and lambs ear and knew exactly what kind of colors we’d be using.  While looking at Bridesmaid’s dresses, I stumbled upon the perfect color. Dusty Shale (From J. Crew).  After that our scheme came together. We now have the Dusty Shale as the main color with pinks, yellows, peaches and greys all flowing through in the details.  These colors fit our theme and make us happy!

I have noticed that so many brides are going with very similar color themes.  Ive been seeing a lot of aqua and white, lilac and cream, and pink and brown. But there are some new color combinations that are becoming more popular and really make a statement.

Picking a Bridesmaid Dress

June 22nd, 2010 by

I have some pretty awesome bridesmaids. My 4 ladies include my good friend from way back in junior high, my sister, my sister in-law and my roommate. All 4 are very supportive and easy to work with, but are completely different from hair color to height so picking a bridesmaid dress took some time.

I picked the dress this weekend, but I have to pick the color.

Trend: Colorful Shoes

June 18th, 2010 by

I cannot believe how much I care about shoes right now! I have never had such an issue finding a pair of shoes as I have for my wedding.

Traditionally, wedding shoes have matched the dress. In my case I would have white shoes. But I’m not so sure I want them.

Many brides are opting to wear shoes in their wedding colors. Blue and silver are very popular.

Trend: Colorful Wedding Dresses

June 16th, 2010 by

I work in an office where three of us are preparing for weddings. J is planning an offbeat kind of wedding, R is planning a very simple wedding for her 2nd marriage, and I’m planning something that will resemble a traditional wedding. We have lots of fun wedding conversations!

J told us the other day that she is wearing a green dress (the color). I started thinking about hold awesome she would looking in green and remembered that white, ivory, and champagne are not everyone’s colors.

This bride designed her dress and had it made by a friend:

I know that in some cultures red is a traditional wedding color and I’ve seen some amazing red wedding dresses in bridal magazines.

Wedding Colors

May 17th, 2010 by

Never in my life has color mattered to me so much than now. The closest I’ve ever come to caring about color before was when I decided to paint my bedroom purple at age 12.

Lilac Dude and I are planning a blue and green spring wedding. I’m not sure those colors can be pulled off at any other time of year. Originally, I had a beautiful black and white wedding planned with blue flowers. However elegant that would have been, I got really sentimental when my friend said, “it just doesn’t seem like you unless it’s green.”
