Special Touches – DIY Project

I don’t know about anyone else, but I LOVE white lights, candles, lanterns — pretty much anything that sparkles.  I think they are very romantic and definitely create a certain ambiance to any occasion.  Where Lavender Dude and I got married, there were two large maple trees.  We decided to utilize them and placed seating between the two trees for the guests.  I truly loved the way the trees drooped down forming an arch around the guests and the area where we stood to get married.  Like much of my wedding planning, it became a DIY project.  I started by buying about 50 of these lanterns:

Plumeria Blossom

Ceremony Decor

Our ceremony site

Part of the bonus of having a beach wedding is that you don’t need to do as much decorating as you would at a traditional ceremony site. Plumeria Dude and I will say our vows beneath those two palm trees in the center of the photo– minus the volleyball net, of course!

On our last site visit in November, we did a walk-through with our caterer/planner to figure out where everything will go. She helped us visualize the flow of the event and in turn, we were able to imagine how a few key details could improve an already awesome site.
