The Big Five – Part 2

July 13th, 2010 by

FOOD – With the first 3 “biggies” covered, CC and I were well on our way to planning a fantastic wedding.  Then there was food.  Catering, as I’m sure you’re already well aware, is a HUGE chunk of a wedding budget.  So huge, CC and I decided we didn’t need it.  What did you just say? Yup, when we started considering the cost of a wedding meal per person, even a simple hotdog and hamburger BBQ, we were shocked and said we didn’t need it – or rather, couldn’t afford it.  Besides, it wasn’t too long ago that guests didn’t expect to be fed a meal at a wedding.  It used to be perfectly normal to have a cake & punch reception.

Location, Location, Location!!!

August 24th, 2009 by

Wedding Sites and Services

Periwinkle Dude and I both grew up, went to school, now work, and have family & friends in the big apple – so we were pretty certain we wanted to get married in the New York area.  We looked into a few Manhattan venues, but quickly learned the capacity limits were not very high on the limited number of places that might be construed as affordable, and all the “big names” with great big ballrooms to match were out of our target price range.
