I LOVE MODCLOTH. If you’re having a lot of mix and match bridesmaid dresses, you should come to this place! There are so many vintage, indie, and eclectic styles dresses that definitely have bridesmaid dress written all over it. I wish I found this website before I got all my dresses. Sigh…
What I love about ModCloth is that they sell hundreds of dresses online for relatively decent prices. They also sell vintage/indie styles clothing lines and accessories. Here are some bridesmaid potential dresses I found.
As you may have read in some of my prior posts, I was invited to be a “bridesmatron” in my friend’s wedding this summer. Let’s just call this friend “Green”, because that’s her favorite color! Green’s mom did a great job organizing Green’s bridal shower, and included a lot of personal touches that I wanted to share with the garden! There was marriage advice collected on pieces of paper that got folded up and put into a picnic basket with some picnic essentials, there was bridal bingo with scratch-off lotto tickets for the winners, there was a beautifully framed picture of Green and her fiance placed at the escort card table for all guests to see upon their arrival, there were green decorations at the tables and on the cake, there was a raffle for each table’s 3-piece candle set centerpiece (which I won!) and there were of course favors. Green’s ceremony was held outdoors in Long Island in late August (more to come on that!), so Green’s mom gave each shower guest a beautiful wooden fan to help keep cool at the ceremony: Photo taken by Me Along with the fan came this cute poem: Thank you for attending Green’s shower.
Guess what? I just ordered the shoes I will be wearing as a bridesmatron in August! The bride picked them out to go with our green tea-length dresses and asked that we all wear them. Want to see?
I have some pretty awesome bridesmaids. My 4 ladies include my good friend from way back in junior high, my sister, my sister in-law and my roommate. All 4 are very supportive and easy to work with, but are completely different from hair color to height so picking a bridesmaid dress took some time. I picked the dress this weekend, but I have to pick the color. Green? or blue?
![]() Pinckney Street Dress in Silk Chiffon by Carol Hannah from Project Runway I thought that the search for bridesmaid dresses was going to be easier than the wedding gown. I was so wrong! The process is just as challenging. And it is recommended (according to the boutiques I have visited) to order the bridesmaid dresses 5 months before the wedding; this time-frame will allow for one month of dress alterations. I visited various places with my girls and found one dress that we collectively liked at a well known big bridal boutique. We were all aiming for a long black dress and hoping for a sash in the middle with a different color.
What is harder than finding shoes for your wedding? Trying to help three lovely ladies pick out shoes for their Bridesmaid dresses. I wasn’t really concerned about what they wore, until I realized that Dahlia MOH wanted to wear what I consider Stripper Shoes.
Since I couldn’t send my MOH a take out box over 5000 miles to NYC without it destroyed, I decided to make her something flat and easy to mail but still sweet and sentiment. I made her the cutest wheel ever! ![]() From marthastewart.com
Valentine’s Day is not only a great day to spend with your special sweetie but also to remember the other sweeties in your life. This week, I spent some time properly proposing to my bridesmaid and maid of honor with the DIY inspiration I got from Martha Stewart and all the crafty tools I had on hand. Because I wanted to take advantage of the ideas I had, I made 2 separate proposals for my bridesmaid and MOH. I’d like single out my first inspiration:
While perusing Martha Stewart for Valentine’s Day ideas, I found excellent ways to express not only your Valentine’s wishes (just because it’s no longer Valentine’s doesn’t mean you can’t show your love right?), but also how to propose to your bridesmaid. As a first (and only) time bride, I wasn’t aware of all the creative ways to ask your bestest to be your maid of honor or bridesmaid. In my case, even before I got engaged, I already asked my close friend from college through email (of all things!) to be my maid of honor and called up my friend from high school to be my bridesmaid after I got engaged. Oh man, after seeing all the creative things one can do to propose, the DIY bride in me was disappointed that I hadn’t asked in a similar manner. Regardless, here are some ideas for proposing to your bestest: Buy or better yet, make a card: ![]() From weddingshoponline.com
Hello ladies! After a labor-intensive search I am VERY pleased to report that with just less than 4 months to go till W-Day, we have FINALLY chosen a bridesmaid dress! Here it is: ![]() B2 1039 I can’t wait to place my order and cross this gigantic item off my to-do list! It was a long search, and in all honesty I could not have pulled it off without my trusty MOH, but the time invested was worth it in the end because I really think the cut and fabric of this dress will flatter all figures. And in my opinion, this dress has a little something more to it than the “typical bridesmaid dress”. What do you think of the dress? Anyone else have a hard time finding a bridesmaid dress to compliment a wide range of body types??? How many dresses did you or your bridesmaids look at before you chose one?
