When I came back from my bridal shower weekend in New York, I came down with the flu that had me practically bedridden for an entire week. My first official week as a freelance writer, no less. I’m convinced I got this sick because I wrecked my immune system with the nonstop running around I did that weekend. But, I would do it all over again if I could.

Saturday morning I swung by my hairdresser to get a trim. I hadn’t cut my hair since October and my split ends were starting to split. She did it up in some loose curls, which is the simplified version of the hairstyle I’m going for on my wedding day. I rushed home just in time for my matron of honor to pick me up and take me to her apartment to finally meet her daughter. I’m not gonna lie, I would have stayed there all day holding that beautiful child in my arms. But, I had a bridal shower to go to.

It was held at Grey Horse Tavern in Bayport, which is this amazing restaurant that serves local grown and fresh foods. My bridesmaids, mother and future mother-in-law did a great job with the decorations, favors, picking out the menu and even the invitations. I was blown away by how many of my friends and family came out for it, considering so many of them live so far. I had a wonderful time and was so, so thankful to everyone. Purple is my favorite color, if you don’t already know that, that is critical to knowing me. So when we decided to try out a tearoom for my shower called the Purple Rose. I think my heart already had decided I wanted that to be the location of my bridal shower. It pretty much exceeded my expectations for a shower location. It was cute and quaint and overall just perfect!

Bridesmaids and I

My LOVELY bridesmaids (seen above) planned the entire thing as a surprise. I knew NOTHING of the goings on of the day, except for the location and the time. I would love to share with you every last detail, but I will limit myself to 2 posts, in this one I’ll talk about the outline of the day, and in the next one I’ll detail a few of the ridiculously cute DIY details that my bridesmaids put together for my special day.
