Our (my) shower was this past weekend. All in all, great success!
Not entirely sure about this pic. The weird one-eyed gaze is a little creepy.
I was astonished by everyone’s generosity given the current state of the economy. And, all the people who really matter in my life were able to make it (minus Pansy Dude’s step-mother and step-sister, who are also very important but live in California, and understandably wouldn’t be able to make it).

As you all know per my last post, my 1 and only bridal shower is coming. I’m psyched. I can’t wait. I’m working on picking out which beers I want at my party. (Pansy Dude and I are little beer-ies.)
So, I’ve read a few of my fellow Buds posts and I have to say. You all seem to be far more humble than myself. I’m not the least bit concerned about everyone watching me open presents. I love presents. I love being the center of attention (which has gotten me into more trouble than any of you will ever know… unless you were at Charlie’s, The Brown Jug, Connor O’Neil’s or the Theta Tau house in Ann Arbor between the years of 2003 and 2008).
On registries now. I was talking to my mother this weekend and, upon reading my invitations, she asked me why I hadn’t registered at any of the big-box stores, listing a few on her fingers.

My Maid of Honor Jennifer called me the other day to talk about my California Bridal Shower. It was really great hearing that she had been reading my blog to get a better idea of the wedding through what I had been writing!
She knew my rules about the shower. No cheesey games, no major color scheme, make it short (about 2 hours), and I don’t want to be the center of attention (even though that is going to be hard to do since I’m the bride). Knowing all that, she really did a great job in taking those things into consideration.

I may have mentioned before that I am a DIY novice. Basically, if a project requires a lot of manual dexterity, artistic ability or complicated steps, it’s probably not for me. I may have the ability to visualize what I want to do but my hands rarely cooperate! With that said, I decided that decorating gift bags for a Valentine’s Day wedding shower would be a good project for me.
 Taken by me!

My shower invitations went out this morning. Oh yeah! Shower me with goodies in exactly 1 month!

How do I know my shower invitations went out this morning? Because I put them in the mail myself. That’s right- gasp all you want. I made my shower invitations. I know, I know… my shower is not in my control. (That’s what you all think!) Why did I do it? Well, first and foremost because I take great joy in designing and crafting, I also did it because my maid of honor is still a student while she works full time and my mother (the two women hosting my shower) is crafting-functionaly-retarded. If left to their own devices I would end up with some doilies glue sticked to napkins with lots of glitter, scanned and then printed on 8 1/2 x 11 sheets. I adore them both, do I want to stress them out by forcing them to do things neither of them are comfortable with? Usually, yes. This time, no.

My sister/MOH emailed me about setting up a shower for me over the next few months.

Immediately, I started to feel panic over being the center of attention at a party. I’m not really into the whole open-presents-and-oh-and-ah thing either. I never really liked this idea at a birthday party, and at least then, you haven’t registered for gifts! I’ve recently been feeling like throwing out some wedding “musts” and I know we’ve discussed it here before, but now, I’m faced with the decision.

I am back from a wonderful time in Chicago, and I’ve located the connector cable for my camera. Future SIL’s family threw her a beautiful shower with a Irish theme to go with her St. Patty’s Day wedding. For your viewing pleasure and inspiration for your shower, here are a few photos.
The general layout.
