Did It Myself: My Bouquet

I purchased white silk roses, green roses (they were made out of a foam-like material), and ribbon then I got to work making my bouquet. Like I did with my veil, I’ll give you a photo overview.

Trend: Hand Wrapped Bouquets

One of the most common bouquet types I’ve seen this year is the hand-wrapped bouquet. The stems of the flowers are wrapped in ribbon, lace, or cloth.

From some florists the hand-wrapped style is even cheaper! And for DIY brides it’s an easy option for making bouquets.

Trend: Tossing the Bouquet Toss

I was recently having coffee with my bride-to-be friend “M” and we were of course talking weddings. She mentioned not wanting to toss her bouquet so we talked a little about other things to do during the “bouquet toss” part of the reception.

Bouquet and garter tosses can be great fun depending on the crowd. But sometimes it’s just embarrassing for the single people. Having seen single people pointed out and then called out by the DJ to gather in the catching pool you can imagine how mortifying it could be for some to be singled out. Some brides are opting to toss the toss.

Meet My Flowers

Buds, here is a little beauty that you may want to consider for your wedding flowers.

If you want the full name, it’s Moluccella laevis, but commonly known as Bells of Ireland or  Shell flower.  These stems provide interesting greenery in a mixed bouquet, or a sleek modern look when used on it’s own.  We are using simple pots with 5-7 stems in each for the cocktail lounge area of the wedding.  The reception room will have a more traditional feel as shown with our other flowers.  I like the idea of having the cocktail lounge a little more modern and simple-looking.
