After some crazy miscommunication and a little bit of panicking (we were almost an hour behind schedule!), we all piled in to a few cars (photographer and videographer in the back of the SUV – totally illegal), and made it to the Public Gardens.

Love the reflection in this shot
The second “oops” was that, because there was no parking, one of our ushers had to stay by the double-parked car, and thus missed out on all the garden shots. We had 3 groomsmen/ushers, and then 2 regular ushers, so he wasn’t standing up with Hydrangea Dude as part of the official wedding party, but we still wish he had been in some of the shots with all the men. This is where we wished we had better planned for a friend NOT part of the wedding to be available to drive/monitor cars during the Public Gardens photo shoot. Lesson learned: plan all transportation – timing, who will be there, etc. We treated transportation as an afterthought since our entire wedding was all in once place (except the photos).

Before our ceremony, Hydrangea Husband and I staged a “first sighting” and took pictures with our wedding party.

Hydrangea Dude's reaction to seeing me for the first time.

Me, nervous and excited that the day is really here!
The first sighting was great! It was so nice to be able to get Hydrangea Dude’s reaction to seeing me for the first time, and it allowed for us to get a second “mini-rehearsal” since we had the first sighting in our ceremony room. Our bridal party was there, so they lined up, as if it were the ceremony, but I walked down the aisle by myself, instead of with my brother, unlike the actual ceremony. We got to give each other a kiss, and then we started taking some of our formal shots.

Last night while attempting to make dinner, I sliced my finger open on a can of refried beans. Classy, right? I immediately put pressure on it and ran it under cold water, and when Tom got home and looked at it, he said, “We’re going to the hospital”. He bandaged it to keep pressure on it, and we were off to St. Elizabeth’s.
Almost 5 hours later, hungry, tired, and up to my limit of pain tolerance, I was stitched up and on my way home. I got 4 shots of lidocaine in my finger, 1 tetanus shot on my arm, and 5 stitches on the tip of my right index finger. I also got a swell-looking bandage to draw attention to my injury. Just what I needed the night before I fly home for my Bachelorette party and Bridal shower! Co-workers have joked that we should bedazzle the finger or put a veil on it to dress it up for the occasions.

I get the stitches out when I return to Boston. At least it will have some time to heal before the wedding. And, it’s not on my ring hand, though since I am right-handed, typing and writing are more difficult.
We made our own invitations. It was a process, but we are very pleased with them, and proud that it was all our own design work, print work, and assembly work.

Boston Cityscape at Night
Hello BridalBuds Blogging Community!
This is my first real blogging experience and it’s pretty cool that it’s going to be all about planning one of the most important days in my life!
To tell you a little about myself, I grew up in Rhode Island, went to New Hampshire to a small Division III school where I played volleyball and received my degree in Exercise and Sport Sciences. I decided I wasn’t quite done with school yet, so I went for my masters degree at Northeastern University in Clinical Exercise Physiology. I started the job I have now immediately after graduating in 2005.
