I’ve had some posts in the works for a few weeks now, but with only 11 days left until our wedding I’ve been super busy with final vendor meetings, last minute prep, and general running around. I finally have a quiet moment to sit down and finish up some posts that I have been meaning to share with you…
I’ve worked very hard coming up with clever yet stylish ways to personalize various aspects of our wedding, and when it came to finding a thank you gift for my bridesmaids I knew exactly what I wanted to do!

You might think after the big day you will be free of to do lists and be done with juggling a bunch of wedding-related tasks… but, trust me, this is not the case. Welcome to the world of the newlywed…

…and your new to do list! Imagine that, after two and a half years of wedding stuff, I still have some wedding stuff to do now that we are married. The Nest provides this list of newlywed to dos.
Here is my post-wedding to do list:

As you faithful followers know, I am constantly searching to find something unique for my wedding. When I say “unique” I understand that while it may be exclusive to my wedding, it will be new, unique and exciting to my guests. They don’t search wedding forum sites and read blog posts like us brides do, so they may not know about the candy buffet, the photo booth or my latest obsession…the ice bar/sculpture.

Hey everyone!
Some of you may be wondering where I have been… and I am sorry for that! Since my last entry, I have had a lot of changes in my life! Freesia Dude and I bought a house and we both got new jobs!! I am now an English Teacher and it is great I didn’t realize how busy I would be as a teacher, and I am sorry for putting my writing on the back burner. I think I have finally gotten into a groove with my schedule, so please expect more from me

Anyways…. I have some big news-My wedding dress came in!!! The only thing is…. the dress turned into a complete disaster I went to go try on dresses with Freesia Dude’s mom at a very popular bridal store… I found the perfect (at the time) dress hanging on a mannequin. I tried it on and knew it was the one! I was probably a bit overzealous as I bought it that day…. The woman at the counter told me that the dress on the mannequin was a certain size, and when it came in…. it didn’t fit. It was WAY too big. I tried it on at home multiple times and eventually began to hate the dress because of how large it was. (Advice: Always check the size of a dress yourself before ordering!!)
Many friends have suggested getting it altered, but I have such a horrible picture of the dress now, that I just can’t see myself in it on my wedding day anymore. Now I know there is supposed to be at least one wedding disaster…. let’s hope this is mine. Has anyone else had a dress dilemma? What are some wedding disasters you have experienced?
If you remember, I considered not having a first dance at our reception because Calla Lily Dude doesn’t like to dance. But, I am happy to report, that I got my first dance… and it was beautiful!!!

I was planning on having James Brown’s “I Feel Good” as our song, but while watching TV I fell in love with the song in an AT&T commercial. I Googled “ATT commercial song” to find out what it was. So, Landon Pigg’s “Falling in Love in a Coffee Shop” was our song.

A wedding is one of the few times in your life when you can go overboard on anything and everything. Think about it: What other occasion would you have for buying one of these:

Or one of these…

I’m so happy to share some details from our reception! You will recognize things we have been talking about for the last year on this blog. The flowers were all done by a local flower shop, Colonial Flowers. All of the paper goods were done by yours truly of course. (I never want use a paper cutter again, EVER)
We used black table linens and black chair covers to create a dramatic setting to show off the beautiful white and green flowers.

Instead of posting about something great that I found and how to use it, I will be looking to you, dear readers. Several months back, this item was posted on a website and, if I remember correctly, it was suggested for use as a modern unity candle.
Double Pique Candle hand made by designer Studio Glithero
A traditional unity candle unites two flames into one, symbolizing two individuals coming together as “one” through marriage. Although, even after we are married, I will still be individual at things like using the restroom and waxing my eyebrows and coloring my hair. Yes honey, I wake up this outstanding!
So, if I were to incorporate this into a ceremony, how would I do it? It is one candle with two flames. Can the mothers light it? Then, how would Sir Poinsettia and I light our candle? Help!
My wedding day was by no means perfect, but it went perfectly in my mind. My family was amazed by how calm I seemed about everything when things were going wrong, expecting me to be a ball of frazzled crazy bridezilla nerves yelling at everyone.
What helped me keep my cool and enjoy the day even when things were completely off track? What helped me achieve wedding day zen?
 from http://www.chroniclebooks.com/
My wedding day mantra helped me! I just told myself, “Nothing can ruin my day. I can let things ruin my day, and I choose not to let anything ruin my day.”
The necklace I made using my grandmother’s pearls broke, my shoes weren’t the perfect off-white, Calla Lily Dude was wearing white socks (given to him by the formal wear rental place), we were completely off the time line, some decorations didn’t make their way to the venue…
