About Me:

I'm a local Hawaii girl, born to FOB Asian parents but Hawaiian at heart. I heart playing tennis with Tuberose Dude and our friends, eating (and lots of it!), and being crafty, dabbling in needlework, beading, scrapbooking, and paper crafts. Though hard at times, being a DIY bride (and groom) has helped us keep within budget, and I can't wait to show off our work! Nothing beats that proud feeling after working hard and accomplishing so much for so little...don't you just love a good deal?!

How We Met:

Keahiwai Concert in November 2002, but the real answer is online. My high school friend told me a guy friend took the extra ticket she had to the concert and the night before, I saw his screen name, and decided to message him. He spoiled my fun, though, by asking "Who dis?" Apparently, my high school friend never writes in pidgin. Just from his name alone, I imagined a tall but skinny, meek-looking Japanese guy. Little did I know he was imagining a big Hawaiian tita. The next day when I opened the door, I was shocked to see a really cute muscular guy, and I remember saying a loud "HI" before quickly dashing off to another room. Long story short: he gave me a CD of Hawaiian mp3s the day I left (last minute request too!), I added him on my AIM list, and I had a new friend. Still...it must have been that pseudo HOT date a month later that sealed the deal...or was it my 21st birthday party?...or Bayfest? Regardless, I’m glad I made that spontaneous trip to California.

The Engagement Story:

(From Tuberose Dude): Surprising her was like sneaking up on a Ninja. She got suspicious at my slightest insistence on doing any unusual activity. Mini golf: aborted. Waikiki beach: aborted. Ala Moana beach: aborted. Finally, we went to a park at the top of her mountain and I gave suspicious Tuberose Bud a photo album I made of our last 5 years together. Of course, I didn’t put a proposal on the last page just in case she got snoopy and read the last page first. Then, I took out the ring and proposed. She said yes. In my nervousness, I forgot to stand up until she told me to, and I put the ring on her finger. Then I had to go change my BBDs. Kidding. Success at last.
