How We Met:

Poppy Dude and I are high school sweethearts. He wanted to ask me to our Junior Prom, but for a long time I had already agreed with a classmate to go as friends. In the few months before prom, our mutual friend told me that we couldn't go together anymore. I was bummed and a little surprised when he had a new date the next week. It all made sense to me a few weeks later when Poppy Dude finally got the nerves to ask me on a date. We went to Prom together a month later and been inseparable ever since.

The Engagement Story:

First a little background information...Since we dated through high school, when Poppy Dude and I went off to college he gave me a promise ring, a pearl. He gave it to me while I was helping him move into his dorm room. This summer I moved into my first apartment, and of course, Poppy Dude was there to help. Moving is no fun, and of course I picked the hottest and most humid day to carry boxes and furniture to my second story apartment. To put it lightly...we were crabby all day! To celebrate (both that we hadn't killed each other, and my new living arrangement) we decided to go out for a nice dinner that night at one of our favorite places. Before we left Poppy Dude told me that we needed to have a talk. He said this in the most stern way...I thought I was in trouble! I sat down next to him, ready to get my butt chewed for my attitude that day. But as I sat there...he only had NICE things to say. The next thing I know, he pulls the ring out of his pocket...the next words out his mouth were "Will you marry me?" I said YES of course...and now here we are, planning our big day!
