About Me:

Hi! My name is Lily Bud and I'm just your average girl who loves to do anything that is fun especially if it involves food! Some things that I enjoy doing besides eating is baking, snowboarding, playing poker, and playing with my two adorable furry friends at home. I'm super excited about my upcoming wedding in Fall 09. I've been enjoying every part of planning mainly because I have such a supportive fiancee and team of dear friends and family around me.

How We Met:

As much as I would like to say that our courtship begin in a beautiful environment with birds chirping, music playing, and the sun shining down, I actually first met Lily Dude at a friend's house surrounded by total strangers in a friendly game of poker. I also thought that his name was Joe for the entire night and felt he was quite rude when I kept calling his name and he wouldn't respond---I guess that is usually what happens when you say the wrong name. Never the less, I gladly took revenge by winning some of his money that night. The next night, I was asked by a friend to go to another stranger's house and I figured..why not? Some how Lily Dude was there again and I ended up sitting next to him (still didn't know his name) and we actually spoke more words than the occasional "check, raise". He seemed like an interesting enough guy and I guess I couldn't resist the power of the dimples, so fast forward a few days later and I started chatting him on IM. In all honesty, our relationship began as merely both of us looking for a companion to eat and nothing more. This included a "first date" to Costco to leverage on all the free samples to late night runs to IHOP for waffle cravings. But it didn't take long before we realized that we had a lot more in common than the love of food. And so that's how the adventures of Lily Bud and Lily Dude began.... since then we've traveled the world, continued our eating habits, raised two of the cutest furry little ones, and have built out so many wonderful memories all the way to the day he popped the big question on a surprise trip to Hawaii! I've been so blessed to have Lily Dude enter my life. It's not every day that you can marry your best friend.

The Engagement Story:

For months, Lily Dude was secretly planning a surprise birthday trip for Lily Bud. She had no idea where they were going until they arrived at the airport and the check in showed the destination to be Kona. Noticing that Lily Bud still looked confused, Lily Dude explained to her that it was a destination on Hawaii's Big Island. After a long flight and many competitive matches of gin rummy and spades, the two arrived on the beautiful island and gorgeous weather. While still giddy and excited about the trip, Lily Bud wondered if the trip would turn into more than just a birthday trip especially since others had put the idea in her head. However, she didn't want to get her hopes up and was baffled on where he would hide the ring if it was going to happen since Lily Dude didn't seem to mind her going in and out of the backpack that they share. After a short drive from the airport, they arrived at the very private and very romantic Kona Village resort. Once settled in their private hut, Lily Dude suggested a walk on the beach. Ok...so you are probably thinking, this is when it happened. But nope....yet, Lily Bud was ecstatic to learn that the resort had lots of sea turtles (her favorite!) that come up all along the shore to sun bathe. Day 2 consisted of more fun in the sun, some relaxing couple time, and lots of good food. But, no proposal. By this time, Lily Bud figured that this was just a wonderful birthday trip and put the whole engagement mumbo jumbo thoughts out of her mind. On the next day, the two were walking towards the beach after breakfast and Lily Dude suggested going back to change. Lily Bud said that she wasn't going to go into the water, so there wasn't a need to so the two decided to just go straight to the beach to revisit their turtle friends (Only later did Lily Bud realize she somewhat foiled Lily Bud's plans to propose with her reptile pals). Since the food from the morning quickly settled, the two went back to their hut and took a nap before checkout time. About an hour later, Lily Bud wakes up to some noise and realizes Lily Dude is next to the bed, but on the floor with a box on the bed. Then, after some mooshy talk, Lily Dude opened the box that had beautiful Sparkles in it and asked Lily Bud to marry him. So after three days of not thinking that it was going to happen, a very shocked Lily Bud and her messy bed-head, happily said "Yes". Thinking that the perfect trip was winding down, Lily Bud was excited to spend a few more days on the island with her hubby-to-be. The two took a beautiful ATV tour to see some of the most breathtaking views in Hawaii and quickly worked up an appetite. Lily Bud insisted on going to other site-seeing spots, so they did. When dinner time rolled around, Lily Dude suggested a restaurant that he said he had read about which had great reviews. When they arrived at the restuarant, Lily Dude noted to the hostess that they had reservations. The hostess replied by saying "Yes. You have a table for 6. Your other party members are here." Confused AGAIN, Lily Bud didn't get what was happening until she was led to the bar area where she was greeted by familiar faces. Lily Dude had arranged for members of his family and her family to celebrate the big event! For the next two days, the group celebrated by visiting more sites, taking lots of pictures, eating great food, and even snorkeling with the turtles! An unforgettable birthday trip with family, topped off by the surprise ring!
