About Me:

Dogwood Dude and I are very laid back, which is probably why we survived 14 months of a long distance relationship. I have been to more than 20 weddings in the past 3 years (11 in one year) and a bridesmaid in six of those. After running what most of my friends called the “wedding circuit,” I knew that I wanted a small wedding that was easy to plan and relaxing. I love finding great deals as we are trying to be very budget friendly and can't wait to have some fun in the sun with our closest friends and family.

How We Met:

Our two close friends, who are now married, introduced us. I had heard from my friend for over a year how Dogwood Dude and I were meant to be. He moved from Charleston, SC in 2007 and we were introduced about two weeks later. After hanging out as friends for a few months we began dating.

The Engagement Story:

Dogwood Dude and I met in Atlanta, GA and after about 8 months of dating he took a job in Washington, D.C. We decided to stay together and have a long distance relationship. After 14 months of living in separate cities, I moved to D.C. at the end of April, 2009 to be with him. My first week in D.C. was quite hectic as we moved into a new apartment and I accepted a new job. Dogwood Dude took me to the Mandarin Oriental, for dinner, to celebrate the first weekend I was there. After dinner he surprised me with a suite facing the sunset, Jefferson Memorial and Potomac River. When we entered the suite there were candles and rose petals all over the room along with a bottle of champagne. I began to hyperventilate as soon as we walked in and turned around to find he was on one knee.
