About Me:

I'm a Brooklyn bride knee-deep in wedding planning and -- phew! -- it's a little bit overwhelming! We want everything for our speakeasy-themed nuptials: the cake, the dress, the vintage-inflected flowers. But we're doing it on a shoestring budget. Well, a really nice shoestring.

How We Met:

We met in 2001 at SUNY-Binghamton University. The first time I laid eyes on Apple Sauce, he was in a band t-shirt and pajama pants and I was knocking on doors trying to round up attendees for a student government meeting. It was a fateful, if not utterly cosmic, encounter. After three semesters of hot pursuit, I finally persuaded James that yes, he did need a girlfriend. Since then, we've lived together in four different apartments, ended up in Brooklyn, become the parents of a pair of adorable cats, Martha and Walter, and have seen Rufus Wainwright in concert five times (twice on Valentine’s Day).

The Engagement Story:

After a nerve-wracking trip through Newark International Airport security, over the Atlantic, and inside the Aurelian Walls, he popped the question in our Roman hotel room.
