The weeks leading up to your wedding are probably the most insane of them all. Absolutely everything that you have been planning for umpteen months needs to be done. Now.
But the one thing that I was obsessing over the most was the only thing that I had no control over. Can you guess? WEATHER!
Ever since we moved our wedding date, I obsessed over the kind of weather we would have on Sept 1. Last year, over Labor Day weekend, was Hurricane Irene. So, you can imagine my stress on what the weather this Labor Day weekend would be like. After everything we had been through during our engagement, I just had to have good weather. I had to.
And so it began.
I stalked the weather. Starting about a month out. But that obviously wasn’t very predictable. So, I came up with a “rain” plan, and researched adorable rain photos on Pinterest.
I emailed my photographer franctically. But then, at about 10 days out, I started to take the forecast seriously. And the forecast never failed me. It never said rain. It never said, “a hurricane is coming to ruin your wedding!” It always hovered around partly sunny, some clouds, low 70′s.
The day before the wedding, August 31st, was one of the hottest and most humid days we’d had all month. I was running around, dropping things off at the venue, getting my hair done and sweating like crazy! As night fell, and our rehearsal and rehearsal dinner began (more on that later), it started to cool down into a perfect, summer evening.
We woke up the next morning to the most absolutely perfect day. It was a balmy 70 degrees, bright sunshine, not a cloud in the sky and just-the-right-amount of breeze off the water. Everyone that kept coming in and out of my suite that day kept commenting on how lucky I was to have such a perfect day. It really seemed too good to be true. How on earth did we luck out? Turns out, the weather was just the first of many things that went absolutely perfect on our wedding day. I wish I had one picture that showed how perfect the day was, but there isn’t. So I’ll leave you with this one:
How many of you are worried about weather? Do you have a back-up plan in case it rains? And please tell me I wasn’t the only bride who stalked the weather forecast!
