I recently had my trial run at Shear Envy in North Canton. I picked my “hair place” by stylist as opposed to salon.

My stylist is Laura, we met through my sister’s wedding and she was working at another salon at the time. She asked what my plans were for hair for my wedding and I confessed that if I had things my way, I would have someone come out to the church and do my hair and my bridesmaids’ hair. She smiled and said, “If you wanted, I could do that.”

So over the past couple of months we discussed logistics of getting my hair, 4 bridesmaids and 2 moms styled at the church on the day of my wedding. Laura and another stylist, Julie, will arrive at the church at 9 a.m. and start making us lovely.

But before then, I wanted to do a trial run. Being the obsessive planner that I am, I wanted to know exactly what my hair would look like for my wedding. This is something that I strongly encourage other brides do.

I was wishy-washy about whether I should do a total updo or something half-up so the trial run was perfect for helping me decide. It also took some pressure off of Laura because now she knows what I want, knows what accessories she is dealing with and had pictures of the style on my head to work with on the actual day.

Like I said, I recommend doing a trial run. If you do one here are some tips from me:

– Make sure your trial run is with the same person doing your hair the day of

– Bring pictures of what you think you want and talk with your stylist about them

– Bring your accessories, veil, tiara, fascinator, etc. Don’t guess at what your hair will look like

My trial was on a rainy day, which happened by chance, but was really great to see how the style held up with rain and humidity. I removed my tiara and veil before I left the salon and went out to a nice dinner because having awesome hair is such a waste if you stay home!

Great tips! My hair trial will be next month… one month before the wedding. I’m pretty specific about what I want so hopefully it will be exactly what I’ve envisioned!

PS: I should have mentioned in the blog that Laura and the other stylist are personal friends of mine who are doing our hair for my wedding as a gift to me.

Aren’t you glad I introduced you to my stylist ? :)
