Inspiration: Obsessions! |

So someone recently asked me how much our idea for the wedding has changed since we’ve been engaged. My response? “I’ll let you know when it stops changing.” It seems that every time I stumble upon something new, my mental picture of our big day morphs in order to accommodate my new favorite details. My most recent discovery was the Wedding Obsessions blog on TheKnot.com. Seriously, it’s the greatest collection of adorable details that I’ve stumbled upon to date! So, I thought I’d take an opportunity to share my new favorite details with all of you lovely ladies!

So the first of my new obsessions is…the little wooden boutonniere that that the groom is wearing in this photo!! How cute is that little heart?! And it’s really easy to make! The bride bought a wooden heart cut-out from a local craft store, colored it red with a paint pen, and then glued a fastener to the back. Adorable, and easy as pie! Dahlia Dude and I are thinking that we may do a shamrock for his boutonniere (show off his Irish side) and a heart for his groomsmen. This idea is definitely still under construction a little bit, but it’s definitely something that we’ll be using!!

Ok, I’m going to just come out and say it: I LOVE this cake!!! I’m seriously obsessed! But it’s so simple and elegant. I have no idea how the baker did it, but I will be definitely sending this picture to my baker in Cape Town. Hopefully they will be able to figure out a way to replicate it. I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

So, before I saw this photo, the mere mention of wrist corsages would bring back memories of my high school proms. And then I stumbled upon this beauty. I’m now planning on emailing this image to my bridesmaids. I would love to have them wear these for the ceremony and reception. Maybe carrying a parasol for the ceremony? Love it. And, if we DIY them using a fake flowers, then the girls can actually keep them after the Big Day. A kind of memoir of the trip.

So Dahlia Dude and I have been going back and forth on the whole Save the Date thing. I mean, since we’re having a destination wedding, it’s not entirely necessary. Everyone who will be attending will no far in advance anyway, as we’re planning on emailing/snail-mailing information packets about flights, hotels, etc. long before the actual invitations go out. But, if we do end up using Save the Dates, I SO want to do something like this. I think they’re awesome, and such a unique idea!! I think that it’s something that our guests will definitely remember, and it won’t cost as much to DIY as more common Save the Dates. Adorable, right?

Dahlia Dude and I aren’t exactly sure if we’ll use any of this book inspiration, but I just had to share it with all of you! I mean, look at it! It’s so personal and vintage looking! I love the author table names, followed by a quote from one of their books (final picture) and I absolutely adore the look of the bouquet on top! Maybe Dahlia Dude and I are just crazy about all this because we’re massive book nerds, but, I mean, come on! Look at it! Ok. Crazy obsessive ranting over.

Alright. Now I’m not exactly sure about all of you, but Dahlia Dude and I are massive soccer fans. Except Dahlia Dude would kill me for saying that. We’re football fans (hey, I’m half British and half South African – it’s football to me!). Anyway, I’m pretty sure that Dahlia Dude loves football almost as much as he loves me. So when I stumbled upon these and pointed them out to him, his response was simply “…Yesssss.” So it looks like we’ll be doing something like this in our wedding gear. Dahlia Dude has Sambas like the groom is wearing in the photo, and I’ll be in flats instead of heels, but it’s the same gist. So I’m pretty excited about it. And it will look hysterical next to our Chipotle photo-shoot!! Yup, you read that right. On top of our soccer inspired photo-shoot, we’re going to Chipotle in our wedding get-up!!

Yeah, we’re Chipotle Addicts. I think we’re going to have to start Chipotle Addicts Anonymous. Before we were even officially engaged, we decided that we were going to go to Chipotle with a photographer and get pictures of us doing our favorite thing ever: eating Chipotle.
So I think that that’s enough for you all to take in for now. Expect a Part 2 to follow shortly, as I’m nowhere near done with my new favorite things! I hope that all of these pictures inspire you, even if you don’t end up using any of these particular ideas. So, what are some of your favorite details? Any awesome blogs that you love, DIY or otherwise? I’d love to read about your ideas!
