But I Want It!! |

So my post title is supposed to take you back to your childhood days. You know what I’m talking about. The days when you knew that you would simply die without that stuffed animal. Or that you just couldn’t go on without the newest game. Well, this isn’t nearly as huge as my former need for a cuddly best friend, but I honestly feel like stamping my feet, crossing my arms, and telling Dahlia Dude (in the whiniest voice I can muster, of course) just how unfair the world is.

So what, pray tell, is so darned unfair? Well, here goes: I don’t have a flowergirl. Yes, I’m that upset over not having a flowergirl. And honestly, it baffles me. Not the level of my aggravation over the matter, no, but the fact that out of all the people Dahlia Dude and I know, no one has a daughter between the ages of two and seven. Honestly, the only girls that Dahlia Dude and I know are my sister (age thirteen, will be fifteen at the time of the wedding) and his cousins, who are the same age. Awful, right?
And I realize that I probably sound like an immature, selfish brat right now, but whenever I’ve pictured our beach wedding, it’s always with a little flower girl toting a pomander around. And I don’t mean the huge poofy dress, I’ve actually always pictured my flowergirl in something a little different.

Yes, I wanted my flowergirl to wear a tutu. I mean, look at that picture!! Isn’t that just the cutest thing that you’ve ever seen? And I want it. I know that sounds pathetic, but I love this picture. Love it. And with Dahlia Dude’s darling nephew(s) acting as ringbearers/ushers, it would just paint the perfect picture! Unfortunately, short of finding out that I’ve actually been pregnant with a little girl for about six months without even knowing (I’m not, and I don’t plan on having children for a few years) it doesn’t look like we’ll have a flowergirl at the wedding. And that’s something that I’m just going to have to come to grips with.
Was there anything that you can’t/couldn’t have for the wedding that just broke your heart? What was it?

To have the wedding outside. I just didn’t realize how important that was to me until I went and agreed to have it at the temple a relative wanted it at. Granted, it’s the relative who’s also funding the shindig. But since then I’ve realized that I have to remind myself to visualize it indoors. I hope to get my outdoor fix with some pics on the beach before-hand, though

Lilac Dude and I will have no children in the wedding. There are obvious picks for ring bearer and flower girl and my niece is only going to be a year old at our wedding and we decided not to reach beyond close friends and family to find children to be in our wedding. Believe it or not people are shocked that we aren’t going to try to borrow someone’s kid for one of those jobs!
I’ve never had grand visions of my wedding with specific things that I wanted so pulling things together for the two of us isn’t a sacrifice. Lilac Dude however would really like a huge, ornate wedding cake and he may have to sacrifice that desire for practicality sake.

We don’t have a flower girl or a ring bearer. I guess we just never really thought about it. My nieces and nephew are adults (and will be playing rolls in the ceremony another way) and we’re not even certain if his will be coming.
You’ve got me thinking, though. Is 2 years old really old enough to play such a roll? My BFF (who is not in my wedding party, as I’m only having my sisters stand with me) has boy/girl twins – who just turned 2. If I really wanted a FG and RB – well, they would be a logical choice! Our wedding is only 24 days away… but it’s so casual, that I could call her the day before to arrange it.
I love how wedding planning goes… you think you’ve finally got everything done and one more thing pops in! Ha!
Thanks for getting my gears grinding again, Dahlia Bud!
