DIY: Cupcake Stand – Part 1 |

We are having 100 assorted cupcakes served at our wedding – made up of three yummy flavors – white almond with Chambord, Lady Godiva with Kahlua, and Coconut pineapple macadamia nut with rum. Such tasty cupcakes need an equally fabulous stand. Nothing seemed to be quite right (I didn’t care for the plastic or cardboard versions) until I came across this one -

The example we are using to construct ours -
The dimensions for ours is slightly different, as well as the height of the boxes. Our top box will hold a 6 inch cake for my groom and I to cut at our reception. I plan on painting my boxes ivory or white and edging them with pink and lime green ribbon. I read online if you do this and use something such as doublesided tape to attach the ribbon that you can re-use or rent out the boxes for other events (which is my plan).
I sent my fiance and his best man to a local hardware store and for less than $48 they came back with the materials – mainly 1/2 in thick MDF to use to construct these boxes.
The bottom two boxes are finished – minus the painting and ribbon trim and I was promised the last two will be done very soon.

Here is another sample of what ours will look like when finished.
I am thrilled this DIY project is coming together and we are on our way to create something special for our wedding that we could not purchase or rent. Once we are finished I will post some pictures our boxes along the way and the finished boxes as well as some helpful DIY directions for you to make one of your own.

These are great! They look super professional and would add some great design to a dessert table/bar!

I love this for a great way to help brides keep cost under control. I just did this for my son big party and everyone loved it. I will be sending out some new DIY for brides to check out on my site, and we are having seminars for brides to learn about things like this. Best wishes!
