Day-of Coordination? |

Just this past weekend, I went to our church to view another wedding and get some ideas. At that wedding, I noticed two ladies dressed in black, running around organizing everything. At that point I started to wonder — should I be considering day-of coordination services?

My wedding is pretty much planned, I’m very organized and feel like I’m ahead of the game, but I’m still thinking it might be nice to have someone around on the big day to make sure everything runs smoothly. I’ve called around a bit for some quotes (and, to be honest, a lot of people are no longer available 3 months out) and this service is pretty pricey in a city like D.C., but I still think it might be worth it.
Wondering — what do YOU think? If you’re already married, did you use a coordinator and would you recommend it? If you’re planning your wedding, are you going to get a day-of coordinator?

Hire a planner/coordinator! I recently planned a 2nd wedding for a bride and after the wedding she told me that she did not have a planner/coordinator for her 1st wedding and she was so glad she did for the second wedding – it made all the difference in the world for her. She enjoyed it more and the day ran smoothly.
Hopefully you won’t have another chance to have a wedding – you only want to do it once – make sure you have someone to watch out for the details and make sure your “dreams come true” on the most important day of your life!

I’ve been thinking about it, but haven’t had a chance to research the prices. I’d love to get a better sense of what’s reasonable.

I would recommend a planner for Day of Coordination (DOC) not only because I am one, but also because I’m a Bride-to-be. Having been a Planner for 2 years now & helped many brides execute their wedding, theres no doubt in my mind that I would need a Coordinator too for my big day. We help you save time running around (and bossing people around) on your wedding. We allow you to enjoy all of the special moments Brides are meant to experience. We troubleshoot problems and fix them so that you, your hubby & your wedding party dont have to. Having a Planner is the best decision you can make in order to get your plans ‘just so’ – remember you’ve spent months planning this one day – you’d hate to see it not go as you invisioned.
So my vote is yes – hire a planner.

As a planner in DC, I know how expensive certain things can get, but hiring at least a day of coordinator is a life saver and in my opinion a must!

I’m planning on some day-of help, I don’t need someone to plan for me, just make sure everything runs smoothly. I haven’t decided whether I’ll hire someone or ask my type-A personality friend (who is not a bridesmaid) to coordinate.
Good luck!

I did not have a day of coordinator, but my venue’s catering director took care of everything at the venue. I have served as a DOC for friends before. It did not detract from my experience as a guest at all. Just another option.

Get a day of coordinator. As a florist and Bride’s Aunt make sure your venue’s coordinator is reliable. In my experience, over 30 years, I have never been in a situation like the one I witnessed on June 12. No help, none. No maintenance, no coordinator to be found, not even front desk.
