Down to the Wire

May 6th, 2010 by

I knew the days leading up to the wedding would be stressful, but I figured that stress would be generated by having a to-do list longer than I could manage or a forgotten item at home. I could only wish that were the case.

I didn’t expect to be stressing over Pink Eye 5 days before my wedding.

Wishing this was the kind of "Pink Eye" we're talking about!

My family has gathered down here in South Florida to spend the week prior to the wedding together. From New York, I went to Boston last Friday, picked up my wedding dress and stayed with my sister. She and I (and her twin babies) flew to West Palm beach on Sunday and joined up with our parents.

My sister has contracted not only pink eye, but also bronchitis and sinusitis. And I have been her constant companion for the last 5 days.

Is there a bacteria gathering in my eyes that will ruin my wedding photographs and potentially contaminate my other wedding guests when I go in for hugs and kisses? Who knows. Every itch, twinge and sensation is magnified 100 times. In short: I am a mess.

This week really was supposed to be my week of relaxation. To enjoy my family before getting hitched. Instead, I am in a paranoid haze and avoiding everyone in sight. I am thinking to leave the beach house we have rented this week and getting a hotel to minimize potential contamination. But maybe it’s already too late.

Has anyone else had a stressful situation like this before the big day? Any advice?

Hey Snapdragon Bud! Have you been to the doctor, by any chance? I believe that there is a pink eye medicine that they can give you before you show any symptoms that can sometimes keep you from contracting it. I might be totally making that up, but it’s definitely worth checking into if you haven’t!

Hot compress that eye, and stop rubbing it! Keep your hands super clean, and stop hugging your sick sis! Hope you stay not sick lady!
