After Wedding Brunch in D.C.

May 27th, 2010 by

wedding wedding planning, BrunchWe’re at the 4 month mark today (whooo whooo!) and its now time to start thinking about some of the details.  One thing we’ve been talking about organizing is an after wedding/goodbye brunch for all our guests on Sunday morning. This, like most things, has turned out to be quite the challenge in Washington, D.C.

I started out by calling all the top brunch spots in the city, and soon realized that most of them do not have the kind of space we need yet they charge an arm and a leg per person — one place wanted to charge $7 per person (in addition to $20 for food) for drinks (juice, coffee, tea — non-alcoholic) alone!  Ridiculous.

The solution looks like its going to be renting out a conference room at the hotel where all the guests are staying and having a continental-style breakfast there. While I’d love to have guests check out one of D.C.’s many great brunch spots, I’d rather not (nor can I afford to) host another reception the morning after!

Is anyone else doing a farewell brunch? And if so where?

I love the idea. We are not having a scheduled brunch.

We did ours in the hotel where everyone was staying – similar idea, used one of their rooms for set-up. It was such a nice way to reconnect with everyone after the party. Everyone was still buzzing. My mom decorated with all the wedding flower centerpieces, so it looked really nice. A nice way to transition out of the big day and not feel completely anti-climactic. If you can do it, I highly recommend it!
