I just got my bridesmaid dress for my sister’s wedding and I noticed that this dress isn’t very forgiving to my pierced navel. I have this bizarre looking bump in otherwise smooth satin from the smallest belly button ring I own. Even though the easy “fix” for this is to simply not wear the ring that day not everyone can just remove their body art. And not everyone wants to.
Although there are tattoo cover kits and piercings can be removed for one day, I went looking for pictures of couples who embraced their body art on their wedding days and here’s what I found:
What are your thoughts? To cover or not to cover?

I love this! Honestly, when did it come to be so taboo for a bride to have a big tattoo walking down the isle?!? And most importantly, why would they cover it up? That is there for LIFE and when their kids and grand-kids look at those pictures… they’ll see the person for who they are!
Beautiful!

My only regret about my sleeveless, open back wedding dress (which I absolutely love) doesn’t show off the entire tattoo on my shoulder blade. It took me a few years to plan out exactly what I wanted (partially because I was still in school and my parents weren’t thrilled about it) and I got exactly what I wanted. I’m proud to have a respectful and well thought out memorial of my grandmother showing on the shoulder of me and 5 of my cousins. In fact, when my cousin was married last year we got a great picture of all of us girls showing off our tattoos in strapless dresses looking over our shoulder.

Tattoos – show em. They are a part of you.
Piercings – Unless your dress has a stomach cut-out (WWHOOO IMAGINE!??!) take your belly button ring out. You will hate it in the photos AND your photographer will hate retouching all of the photos to remove it. It is a part of you – but does grandma want to sit in the the front pew and wonder why she missed steaming the front of your dress?

I love it when brides play up their body art! Such great photos!
