Ring Warming Ceremony

March 30th, 2010 by

How many of you are familiar with the idea of a ring warming ceremony during the wedding? Note: ring WARMING, not ring-worming (that isn’t recommended). I found this idea while looking for ideas on how to involve the guests at my small wedding (count down: 40 days!).

The idea is this: at the beginning of the wedding, your officiant announces that s/he is passing around your wedding rings to the people gathered for each person to bless or infuse with love or a positive thought. A little new-agey perhaps, but I really like this idea, though best for small weddings. Naturally, some couples might shy away from this idea due to fear that the rings could get lost in the pass around. But Ah-ha! I found the perfect solution to that: tie the rings to one of these gold leaf edge ring bearer bowls I found on Etsy from a store called Paloma’s nest. You can get one of the pre-made ones below, or have them custom the text per your preferences.

What’s also lovely about these little bowls is that you can take them home as a keepsake too, perhaps to hold jewelery or mount on a wall in your home.
