Wedding Dress Nerves |

Just two days after Christmas, my mom and future mom-in-law joined me on a search for “the one.” The dress that would make me look the most beautiful that I ever have, the dress in which I will become a Mrs.

We found it that day and at the right price too! I won’t tiptoe around how expensive my dress was, the price tag said $599 and they were running a $50 off sale. That seems like a sign to me, so I ordered the dress.
They told me to expect a call to confirm and then that my dress would arrive in about 10-14 weeks.
I got no call to confirm. Instead, on January 6th I got a call saying I should come in a pick it up!
This is my cue to worry since I can’t pick it up right away. Am I still going to be this size when we get married? Did they even send the right dress?
As a compulsive worrier, I’m good at making lists. Here are my pros and cons of having my dress more than 500 days ahead of my wedding.
Pros:
- One “large” wedding expense is out of the way earlier. My bank account said thank you.
- I can start looking at bridesmaid dresses so my girls can have plenty of notice to be able to save for them.
- I feel like I’ve accomplished something when it comes to our wedding.
Cons:
- I’ll have a dress in my closet for over a year.
- I’m afraid of finding another dress.
My game plan is not to look at other dresses but to get more and more excited about this one. It’s mine. I never imagined how much I enjoy saying, “my wedding dress.”
It was the right dress:
I am now one step closer to marrying the man of my dreams.

i totally hear you! i did the exact same thing & bought a dress 15 months before our november 2010 wedding from j.crew. some days i am totally in love with it and can’t wait to wear it and others i am one episode of “say yes to the dress” away from scrapping the whole thing and relaunching a full on search. hang in there! the price is right, the dress is stunning & you look gorgeous!

This dress looks a lot like the Martina from Maggie Sottero. You look amazing! This dress was made for you. Don’t change a thing.

Lara I am right there with you! I have my dress about 7 months before our wedding… there are days I love it and days I want to put it up on ebay make some money off it and find another. I have given myself strict rules to stop watching Say Yes to the Dress
With that being said, Lilac I agree with everyone else, you look fantastic and the dress is so elegant! I don’t think you will fall out of love with it!
Major tip for keeping it that long… Buy a cloth hanging bag for the dress if it came in a plastic dress bag. Mine was shipped in a very nice plastic dress bag like the ones in the picture next to you, but those will actually yellow the fabric. I found a cheap cloth one on Amazon for about $18… well worth it to keep the dress white!
