Preconceived Notions…

January 19th, 2010 by

I really hate admitting when I am wrong (yes, stubbornness runs in my family), but when I am wrong I will say I am wrong… and boy was I really wrong when it came to the dress search!  I spent last weekend in Atlanta searching for my dress with my family and MOH, and was shocked to find out that I was WAY off when it comes to what I want! I had appointments at both Bridals by Lori and Wedding Angels, both of which are fantastic places, but thank goodness for Flo at Bridals by Lori.  She really worked to help me break out of my mold and try on new things….and what do you know, I ended up with a dress I never thought I would buy.  (She also was great with staying in our limited budget.)

I don’t want to go into too much detail as I am not sure if Dogwood Dude actually gets on here and reads what I post.  As I mentioned in my last post, I had two types of dresses that I would steer clear of.  Number two was any dress that would accentuate my hips including a mermaid style. What do you know, that was actually my favorite style!  I tried on the beachy sheaths, the lace body huggers and even a few ball gowns (at the request of my Mom) but found I felt fabulous in a drop waist style gown with a mermaid silhouette!  Here are some pics from my favorites.  My dress is definitely one these… but you will have to wait till after the wedding to find out just which one!

I think I love every one of the possible dresses you have listed, so you wont go wrong with any of them! My dress is of a very similar style, and I could see it being up there as a “contender”. Its crazy how amazing those mermaid/drop waist dresses can look! I think my favorite three are: Mikaella, Hjelm, and Wtoo, thought the Watters one is a close 4th. ;-]

My favorites are Wtoo and JCH Collection…but all are lovely! Congrats on finding your dress! Mine was different than I expected too.
