The Stuff You Never Think to Budget for… |

As far as Calla Lily Dude knows, we did not exceed our wedding budget… and for the most part, we did stick to our budget. However, there are a few wedding “related” purchases that were not part of the budget. And by “related” I mean the things you never think to budget for because they are not direct wedding purchases like decorations or attire.
For example, because I planned on wearing my glasses at the wedding, I bought new glasses because they matched my wedding colors better than my old glasses. I didn’t need new glasses, and my vision insurance didn’t cover them at the time, but I just had to have glasses that matched my wedding colors.
I did make sure to have my photographer get a few feature shots with my glasses (and Calla Lily Dude’s glasses, too). He created magic in my humble (and totally biased) opinionĀ using our invitation and the labels for the BBQ sauce from our reception.

Other than my new fabulous, spicy glasses, which were my most expensive wedding “related” purchase, I also never thought to budget for new makeup, countless wedding magazines, and a few new outfits for our honeymoon, among other things.
I didn’t go over the top (I don’t think), but I’m sure that there are other things that I have forgotten in the months since the wedding. These are all pretty much the impulse buys that weren’t part of the original budget. So, impulse buyer beware–and control your spending or adjust your budget as needed…

We did budget for the cost of our venue, but not our ceremony site. We didn’t know that churches would charge you money to be married- and some of the popular ones are very expensive!
