Color Crisis |

Crisis #1…I can’t make up my mind on our colors! With all the beautiful colors to choose from when planning a beach wedding it really makes it hard to decide. I could go with sky, water or earth on this one!
My first inclination was to go with the colors of the sunset since our wedding will take place at that beautiful time. I was imagining amazing hues of canary, peach, coral and tangerine much like this image from Martha Stewart.

Next I thought about how amazing a wedding based on the colors of the ocean would be. Crisp cobalt blue, turquoise and muted greens something like this picture from Brides.com.
Then of course I was reminded of the beach itself and that’s when I thought about the understated yet classic choice along the lines of sand, mossy green and white like this one also from Brides.com.
I don’t know gals…what are your thoughts? Who knew this would be so hard!

I had a tough time deciding too. One day I finally asked my fiance, and guess what?! He actually had an opinion. So, may input is to tell him the ones you are debating between and ask him what would be his choice.

I agree with what Rhonda says that it’s important to ask the groom’s opinion. However, if he’s like Iris Dude, he might not have an opinion
I have to say that I really like the second picture in the post, with the blues. It’s such a striking picture against the water like that!

I would have to say that you are not alone, when it comes to picking the right color scheme for your your wedding! I would suggest that you call your local linen supplier and ask them to set up a table in the two of your favorite color schemes , have your florist mock up a centerpiece and add to your table! It helps with getting the overall concept of the vision you are seeking. Will you be on the waterfront? Will this be the view that your guest will see? or some where in a venue close to the ocean? This might also help determinate your visuals. Just a thought. Let us know what scheme you came up with.

I’m having a beach wedding in Key West and had the same issue! I finally decided to go with tangerine and aqua. Sounds very loud but I’ll only be using subtle hints of both, our ceremony and reception will be on the beach, so the sand and white linens will be the main colors with pops of the bright colors in our flowers and small details. The girls will wear short strapless tangerine dresses and the guys will have tan suits with a light aqua blue tie. Good luck with your search!

Hello Dogwood!
Have you thought about what kind of flowers you are thinking to have (if any– I don’t want to assume!). If you know you want a particular flower and they only come in one of the colors you are considering, that might help narrow down. I am also having a beach-ish wedding and decided to go with a tangerine/turquoise/fuscia combo.
On another note, my friend got married last year and we made HUNDREDS of those Martha Stewart pom-poms for the large backyard ceremony. It was lovely! Feel free to take a look:

Keep in mind some color themes are easier to work with than others. Linens available? Vases that match, dresses of course.
I’m finding many of the ‘new colors’ hard to match or blend to natural flowers. Especially the cobalt blue and turquoise. Think about how you want to do your floral arrangements 1st. Some color choices will add a lot to your cost and this will depend on the time of year too.

Maybe consider the tone that you want to set for your wedding…The oranges are really fun, vibrant and upbeat, the blues (my favorite
) definitely give a more formal feel to the setting, and the greens are kind of rustic & vintage with a warm and cozy feel…I have the hardest time choosing colors, but I think you definitely have 3 great choices!
