DIY: Wedding Photo Album

November 11th, 2009 by

When we selected our photographer, we already planned on making our own wedding photo album using an online service. There are many services out there, so I suggest researching which one is right for you. I looked at a lot of sites, like Snapfish.com, Picaboo.com, and Blurb.com.

After this research, I choose to go with Shutterfly.com. I found the site easy to use and I had a blast creating our wedding photo album. I used my favorite photo for the album cover after using the tools provided to make it a sepia tome:wedding archived, calla lily wedding album coverIt’s not a special effect… Here’s the original, which our photographer took while standing behind a glass partition:

My favorite wedding photo!

I know Orchid Blossom made her own photo book to use as a guest book. We sort of did the opposite, and we included some of the well wishes and happy thoughts our guests wrote in our guest book, our vows, and the lyrics to our first dance song. Here are a couple of pages:

"Welcome to the family. We are all so happy for you."

"I can see that every word and action is endowed with your love."

"Your lives together will be delicious!"

One of the features that I liked about Shutterfly was the ability to copy your entire photo book to a different size. This feature made it a breeze to create our album in a 8×11 size and make a 5×7 size for our families.

Our photo albums (we ordered 6 total) were shipped in less than 24 hours from putting the order in.

I am so happy with the way the albums turned out. I think including our friends and families’ words really added nothing but special meaning and even more sentimental value to our album!

One of the benefits of doing the wedding album yourelf is being able to include your guests photos. We used a service called GuestSnapper at http://www.guestsnapper.com which gives you an online wedding album your guests can upload their pictures to. It also doubles as an online wedding album you can use whilst you sort out your printed version.

It worked really well for us, we then mixed the guests pictures with our professionals (we bought the rights) then used Photobox to do a DIY wedding album.

We will design and have your books printed for you. We have some of the best prices you will find for less the trouble. Save yourself the headache and send us your pictures and let our graphic designer design your book.
