Wedding Project Day!

September 1st, 2009 by

I’m going to start by saying that doing what we did is an absolute MUST! If you enjoy working on wedding projects and love having friends and family around, then this is the perfect occasion for you!

We turned in what could have been hours and days of finishing wedding projects on our own into a day of family, friends, food and fun! Gerber Dude and I picked a Sunday and invited friends and our moms to help us with these projects. The response was overwhelming and we had both of our moms, 5 bridesmaids and 1 girlfriend over. Odd, all of the guys were busy that day?!?! wedding do it yourself, icon razz Here’s what the house looked like:

Full dining room set-up: One table for food and the other covered in wedding wrapping paper for projects. Full living room set-up: The coffee table was covered in a fun polka dot wrapping paper.

Each room had a table with project task cards like these. That way, they all had clear instructions for what needed to be done and how to do them.

The tasks for the day included:

Ceremony Programs
Guest Favors
Taxi Cab cards for each table
10 Floral Arrangements for the bridesmaids
My Bridal Floral Arrangement

We even gave each person a “job title” inspired by The Office and inside jokes we have for one another. I was the “Regional Manager”, the Dude was “Assistant to the Regional Manager”, our moms were “Project Managers”, one friend labeled herself as the most non-creative person there so she was the “Director of Creativity”, another friend is Asian so she was the “Liaison for Asian Relations”, etc. etc. We all had a good laugh.

I also served brunch food and beverages for everyone:

The day was extremely successful. We completed all of the projects with the exception of the ceremony programs because we needed to print, cut and put together 120 of them! One of my friends did come back a couple more times after to help the Dude and I finish them. She brought sushi one night and I grilled the second night. PLUS we did it all while watching pre-season Patriots football. What can be better than that?

I will feature a “how to” for each project in future blog postings. So stay tuned!!
