Something else we’ve been working on this month is the guest book. We knew we wanted a photo book because we wanted it to be something that we would actually look at again. However, I’m a little shy and I really did not want a book with just photographs of us. I knew that would make me self-conscious. So we decided to do a photo book which was a mixture of our engagement photographs and photos of our family and friends.

We used blurb.com to make the book. You have to download their software before you can begin working on the book. The software was pretty easy to use, but it did take me some time playing around with it to figure out how to change lay-outs, font, etc. But I figured the program out, it was relatively simple to upload the photographs and create custom lay-outs mixing text and photos.
The program was also great because it warned us when some of the old family photographs we were trying to use would not be good enough quality. Also, you can see examples of other people’s books on their website to get ideas. For each 2 page spread, we had one page of photographs and one lined page for guests to write on. We also incorporated some short poems and quotes on the photograph pages. Blurb offers books in various shapes and sizes, soft cover and hard cover. We decided on a standard landscape hardcover book. It’s only $31.95 for up to 40 pages.

We should be getting the book in 2 days, so I’ll let you know how it is. I can’t wait!
