Say Cheese! It’s Photobooth Time!

July 26th, 2009 by

To add more fun to our wedding reception and allow guests to have a unique favor to take away with them, we decided to get a photobooth! I talked about this in an earlier post as an idea that I was leaning towards…but now it’s official and everything is set.

I haven’t been to a wedding yet with one of these, but I know this has been a growing trend. Everyone that I’ve talked to who has been in a photobooth, whether at a wedding or at a local carnival, seems to enjoy it. Hopefully, it will be as popular at our reception. We’re going to get a lot of mileage out of the pictures since guests will get their own copy of all the prints, but we will also have an extra set for them to cut up and use in our guestbook.

Additionally, this will also help us get more pictures of the guests since it can be hard sometimes for the photographers to capture everyone. All of the pictures taken will also be saved digitally and we’ll make sure to post them up when they become available!

The vendor we went with was www.partybooth.com. There are a lot of different vendors out there and I researched a number of them. PartyBooths is nationwide and their booths seemed to be the best quality. Their service and responsiveness has been great and the price is reasonable. I would highly recommend them!

As part of PartyBooth’s package, we’re allowed to customize the logo on the bottom of the print outs (where the red circle is). To make it more personal, we decided to use the cartoon characters that we’ve used in our other “fun” and less formal things like Save the Dates, wedding website, etc.  Here’s what will be printed.

Another thing that we’re doing is putting together a prop box for guests to use in the photobooth for their pix.  I’ll leave what we’ve included in the box a surprise, but they should make for some interesting pictures. We got the package that will allow unlimited pictures, so we are encouraging our guests to cheese away and take as many pictures as they like!

I have friends who did something similar, and the resulting “guest book” is amazing! Way more fun that even their “official” wedding album. One idea is to have blank paper and markers there for people to make signs to hold for you in the picture. You’ll be amazed at some of the messages that come through. I wish we could do this, but don’t have the space. Maybe we will rig our own with a polaroid! :)
    Great idea!

We just used the same company for our wedding and LOVED IT! Periwinkle Dude was way more into the idea than I was, because I was afraid the idea was getting played out already, but all the guest absolutely loved it – older and young alike! :) Great choice!

My friend hired this company ( OhCaptureThis.com ) for her wedding and she loved it. They offer a photobooth that has over 300,000 backgrounds to choose from. Very unique. the pictures can be used as photos or stickers.
