Film Cans for Decoration |

After an attempt at surprising Dahlia Dad for father’s day, followed by a night in Charlotte’s finest airport hotel, I did eventually make it around to some wedding projects last weekend. First up, I had purchased some film cans (the metal containers used to hold the film projector spools of film) to use as table name holders. They came in all different colors.

Since light blue didn’t really go with the colors of brown, dark red, and gold, Dahlia Stepmom and I used a $6 can of spray paint to transform them. Here’s a few action shots, shot in the few moments of sunshine and heat.

The paint dried remarkably fast!So we then took the film cans and added what we thought would work for the table name, and description of why these “names” were our favorite films. Turns out that the name itself is not big enough. The script font is more difficult to read from far away. So, when I returned home, I put together trial #2:

I like this better. The table tent gives more room for the photo and description of the film, while making the name bigger. I think there may actually be a trial #3. Making the name and number fit in the center. I realize these are small details, but I have some free time, and love crafting!
