Willy Wedding Chocolate Factory

May 11th, 2009 by

We are doing a candy bar… cheap, easy, and looks great. However, I’m faced with a dilemma. Should I go with a theme color (and do variations on that theme color) – for example doing several different colors of brown or orange candy. Or, should I throw the theme out the wedding and just one type of candy, regardless of color, in each jar?  Help me decide…

Or an assortment?

So I am getting married on the 18th of July this year and we are doing what we are calling a Candy Island… I just decided to do an assortment of colors and candy that kind of match with the colors of the season that way you aren’t pressed in trying to find different shades of candy… it can get a little stressful trying to find the right shades and all.. just my opinion… Good Luck…

I offer the candy buffet service through my business. By far my favourite colour choice for a wedding is to do various shades of the wedding colours. Guests are always amazed at the display of treats and the added WOW that they all compliment the decor and each other. For less formal events I choose candies of many colours to add a colour punch to the event. Either way you go, there are many suppliers online that offer some of the old favourites in a rainbow of colours. Colour matching can be a task but well worth it in my opinion. Enjoy!

I personally love the look of color coordinated candy bars! I wouldn’t stress so much about getting the right shade, but instead find candies in shades of orange and brown. This might be where your pictures are from, but on http://www.candywarehouse.com you can search candies by color! (I personally love the look of adding rock candy!)
    Good luck!

I have seen both options laid out, and if done right both can look fantastic and can be equally creative.

Here are a few tips that may help you decide what to choose:

If you want something with nostalgia or sentimental value to the bride and groom, I would focus more on the candy type and not on the candy colour.

If you have a theme that isn’t related to a colour (like the Candy Island one above) again, I would go with any candy type.

If you’ve worked very hard to keep a colour theme evident throughout your reception it may be a challenge to find candy of all one colour, but in the end will be worth it because it creates a beautuful visual effect which ties into the rest of the room.

One last tip – if you are having a wedding around a certain holiday (ie. Valentines, St. Pattys, etc.) you’ll have an easier time finding certain colour groups along with better pricing as it gets closer to the holiday.

It definitely seems easier not to be tied to a certain color scheme for the candy, but I love the visual impact that the color coordinated candy buffet has. If possible, I think you should go for the color theme.
