You WILL marry me, and that’s a threat! |

I love bad reality tv. I do. It’s bad. Really BAD.
Pansy Dude hates it. He says he can’t figure out how someone so smart (that’s me) can stand to watch such garbage (my favorite shows). I don’t know. I’m attracted to train wrecks? It started a long time ago. I was hooked on The Real World when I was in 6th grade (that was in ummm…. 1997?)
I saw a preview for this show on Fox. Normally I try hard to stay away from Fox. (Fox News especially. “Fair and balanced” my fanny. *Fox Network = Hello, I am an unapologetic Republican.*) This show? It looks sh*t-tasic. I almost don’t know if I’m going to be able to stomach it. My wedding is drawing near… The thought of doing something like this to someone makes the hair on my neck stand up.
The premise of the show is that women ambush their boyfriends and give them and ultimatum. It’s now or never. Marry me here in front of a live audience, or we’re done. GULP. NO ONE DESERVES THAT. Un-feeling male or not.
I’ll probably watch at least one episode because I can’t ever look away. It’s like a good surgery on Discovery Health, or the road kill on the highway- it might make your stomach do a somersault but you can’t not look. It’ll likely fail anyway but will anyone else be watching it with me? Is it just wrong to support something like this. To take so much interest in something that no one should ever have to go through?
If Pansy Dude did this to me, I’d say no on principle. Even if I would have said yes under normal circumstances on the same day, were he to ask. You don’t demand someone marry you. The demanded divorce within the year is implied in such instances.

I like to call shows like this “awesomely bad mind poison!” Calla Lily Dude also wonders why I enjoy bad television, and my logic is that smart people are attracted to un-smart TV so they don’t have to think about it, just sit back and enjoy it for what it is… I’m going to Tivo this!
