Kidding Around |

We estimate that there will be about 20 kids at our wedding under the age of 10. I ADORE children, I want 1 million of my own, however, I want the parents to be able to get wasted have fun at our wedding without chasing a 2-year-old around. So, my solution:
1. 1 Nanny/2 assistants – provided by caterer
2. A kid’s tent to keep them corralled.
3. Kids tables inside the tent with all sort of goodies, games, DVD player, crayons, etc.
This is what I have in mind from the lovely Kate Parker:
But sorry Kate, I am doing this one on my own. I am gaining FOUR sisters when I get married and 2 mothers – they are going to be my Kate! And I can’t wait to see what they come up with.

What a cute idea! My stepmother-to-be is throwing an engagement party for my fiance and I this summer, and she’s providing beach balls and other “safe” outdoor games (basically, if someone launches a beach ball toward an unsuspecting guest, it won’t leave a mark) for the kiddos who will be attending. Not only will it keep them occupied, but will probably wear them out a little, too…and for this, their parents will probably be appreciative.

**A Scavenger Hunt!** I just recently heard that a couple arranged a scavenger hunt for kids at their wedding. They provided each child with a disposible camera and a list of subjects to take pictures of during the reception. Some examples were two people kissing and someone dancing. Coming up with your own list could be fun. What I love about idea is knowing that all those little “freelance photographers ” will come up with fun and intersting shots for the wedding album. I think the children would feel excited and included. You would need to figure out the appropriate age range and arrange supervision.

As a mother of toddlers…I think I love you! I LOVE this idea of the nanny/assistants + the tent
.
For my best friend’s wedding, my girls were the flower girls (ages 1 and 2) and we has arranged for them to go to my mother-in-law’s home shortly after the reception began…but…family & friends who we don’t see much kept asking for them & wanting to see them. I felt kinda bad that they weren’t there, so this sounds like a great solution. I will have to blog about this post in the near future

I suggest a female contortionist/juggler…THINK RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS…the sport includes beautiful costumes and equipment they use for performance including ribbon, balls, rings, and juggling pins. There should be a local gymnastics facility near you or a sport team you can contact.
If you get small rings/hoola hoops, balls, and ribbons for hte kids too, the performers can “teach” them as a form of entertainment.
I say, give the pony and balloon a run for thier money!
Best wishes!
