DIY Project: Veil |

After the trial of the fabric store, who would have thought that it would be twice as hard to find a metal comb? They seem to have lost their place in the every day hair accessory world. We looked at no less than 8 stores, only to find a blue plastic comb and ones priced beyond belief (why would a store charge $70 for a wire comb and a few beads? No joke!). Our intention was to finish the veil this past weekend, but we came up empty handed. We did trim the bottom a bit but it’s not complete just yet.
When I returned to NYC, I found a bridal fabric store that had several of them, in every color, shape, and size. Of course.
What is the best thing about the veil (aside from my sister making it)? Total cost: $12. I know you’re going to think I’m nuts, but we purchased the tulle at 50% off sale for $4. The comb was $7. I didn’t want anything else added to it, so just a simple stitch to attach it to the comb and we’re all set. I couldn’t believe it myself. If you want to wear a veil, I highly suggest looking into making your own. It will save you a bundle. At one bridal salon they were going to charge me $300 for the cheapest available.
I will post photos when we actually finish it.

I had mentioned my mom made mine. We found combs at Joann’s Fabric store in the wedding aisle. I think they might have them at Hobby Lobby too!
