Bridal Stage Fright

March 23rd, 2009 by

I recently added my up and coming videographer, Kolby of Aria Studios, on Facebook, and was introduced to her latest collection of wedding videos, ranging from ceremony highlights to movie trailers to love stories about the bride and groom.  The first video I watched was her new demo video, which was so beautifully done that I was swept up in a wave of emotions.  Let’s just say, I was semi-teary, Tuberose Dude noticed and said “Your eyes are shiny,” and then I really became teary.  I couldn’t help it!  It seems that the closer it is to the wedding, the more emotional I get.  Trust me, you’re going to be an emotional wreck too.  Just see the video for yourselves:

Isn’t it just the coolest video ever?

As any bride would do, I watched ALL of her other videos (available on vimeo) and you know what?  I’m really happy that we were fortunate enough to meet Kolby and have her as our videographer.  Those videos were so beautiful made and really captured the bride and groom’s day so perfectly.  What a great documentary keepsake!  Perhaps it’s my excitement and nervousness rolled into one, or the fact that I felt as if I was at the actual wedding, that made me so emotional while watching them.

She really helped us out by customizing a package to help us stay within budget (so remember to ask your vendors, no matter how pricey they may seem!), and I can only hope that our wedding day is as beautiful as the ones I saw.   I just want the dude and me to display our excitement and joy as naturally as we can, but what if we can’t?  What if I’m not as graceful as I should be or what if we freeze on our wedding “stage” because we’re the center of everyone’s attention?  Though I know I may be able to ignore everyone, including our vendors, Tuberose Dude may stiffen up with the attention (as he is wont to do) and it might become an awkward, uncomfortable mess.  Oh boy, I believe I’m coming down with some bridal stage fright.

Does anyone else feel the same way?  What are you planning to do to relax and be yourself on the big day?

I feel the same way about the wedding photos. But I figure, and have seen happen with many couples, that come the big day you will be so focused on one another that you wont even notice the video camera or the person behind it. But my number one way to relax on any day would have to be a nice, hot bubble bath!
