I recently posted about my anxiety over not getting my bridesmaid dresses back in time for my bridal shower trip to California, where 4 of the 5 girls will be there from various West Coast locations.  I was looking forward to the experience of seeing them all try the dresses on for the first time together.  And, it was saving us money since I was just going to bring them with me on the plane and there would be no shipping fees.

The order was placed yesterday after everyone finally submitted their sizes, styles, and deposits.  We were right on the line where the dresses would be back just as I was leaving, and I hoped that I could get them in the nick of time to bring them with me.  But, I just found out today that one of the bridesmaid dress styles is now discontinued, so they couldn’t place the order yesterday.

This is so frustrating, because she was the first one who picked out the style she wanted and had her measurements and deposits submitted first.  She really liked the style she chose, and it was very flattering on her.  The bridal shop, Pure Bliss Bridal in Newburyport, MA, has been really nice.  They fought for me, telling Alfred Angelo that it was still on their website and in their catalog, so they should honor the order, but they said it was too late.

Now, my fiance’s sister has to go back, try on more styles and pick one out.   Even if she went online today and picked one out without trying it on, we wouldn’t get them in time.   Unless, of course, a miracle happens and the company finishes early, ships them early, and UPS delivers them early to the bridal shop.

Otherwise I am stuck shipping the girls the dresses at extra charges to me or them, which none of us want.  It’s not the end of the world, but it’s not ideal.

Lesson learned: Pay attention to turnaround times and delivery times.  Then give yourself an extra month.  I’ve found out the hard way that bumps in the road do happen.
